The scent filled his nose, following the trail. Dorian walked through the woods; the humming filled the air. Something strange filled his heart as laughter filled his ears. A smile stretched across his face.
"Dorian," the voice called out happily. He recognized his surroundings. He followed something blue that caught his eye. Stepping out from the trees, he saw the ground covered with dark blue roses. Not finding his mate but the witch, she turned around, her dark eyes meeting his.
"She was here, wasn't she?" the witch questioned him. "Your mate." She smiled at him. Raven reached down, lifting a rose from the ground, straightening herself as she stepped up towards Dorian. He watched the witch's every move as she came to a stop in front of him, holding out the blue rose to him.
Leaning closer to him, she said, "But she is no longer here."
Anger filled him at the witches' mockery, enjoying the pain he was in. In its place stood the witch who had cursed him, the chain that once belonged to him hanging around her neck, raven gone. He dropped the rose to the ground. A roar tore from his throat as he reached towards Genevieve. Only air filled his hands. Blinking, Dorian spun around, looking for the witch, but she was not there. The pain in his head subsided, only to realize there were no roses; the sweet scent of his mate was gone and she was never here; it was only a hallucination.
ROAR
Raven stopped in her tracks, nearly dropping the stacks of books in her hands. Her head snapped in the direction of the stream, a roar coming from the other side.
She has never heard anything like it. Electricity coursed through her as she turned to face the one behind her; Doran stood there, his hair disheveled, his eyes piercing through her. She could feel the rage coming from him.
"You still haven't found it yet," he grimaced, the pain shooting through his head. "I have a much faster way to know where the book is," Dorian told her. "What way?" Raven questioned him, closing the book. He grabbed her; darkness consumed her.
Raven stirred as the rope dug into her skin; she was in a greenhouse, lying on a table with plants surrounding her.
'What is going on?' she was trying to sit up, but her hands were bound.
Dorian stood a few feet away, leaning against the entry. "Let go of me."
"I never wanted to resort to this, but you left me no choice."
Raven tried wiggling out of the rope as it dug into her skin. "Get away from me!" she spat. Trashing against the ropes as she screamed for help.
"HELP"
"SOMEBODY HELP ME"
"PLEASE," she called out for anybody to hear her. Dorian pressed her down on the table; her vision instantly blurred, becoming dark.
"Where is the book?" Dorian questioned her as pain suddenly spread through her brain.
"I don't know ?" She cried out, struggling against the pain.
"Yes, you do. Where is it?"
"Let go of me," she screamed, thrashing against the ropes.
"Your family hid it; I can find it," he told her. Dorian's eyes turned a deeper red, and his fangs extended. "You are not the only one who has been having these headaches and visions; I have been cursed with them for decades. I need it to end," he growled out. Reaching for her, she tried fighting him as his hands grabbed either side of her face and pulled her into darkness from his touch, placing her back at her old school, students calling her names as she walked through the halls. He was in high school.
"Did you see what she did? She is a freak," whispers filled the halls as the witch walked through the school.
"She is the one who caused the explosion."
"Several of the students were hurt badly because of her."
"I am sorry, but the school has decided it would be best if she left the school; let's not make it a thing; she could be a danger to the other students," the principal told her mother. Dorian was pulled into another memory. Dorian watched as she sat on the couch next to her mother.
"It was an accident. I never meant to hurt anybody. It just happened. I would never hurt anybody."
"Oh, I know, my little Raven, it was not your fault."
"Come on, it's your birthday. I have your favorite cake," his mom reappeared with a lemon cake, sprinkles everywhere, and a candle in the middle. Raven smiled as she sat in front of the cake, smiling at her mother, who stood there singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Shocks ran through him as he was pulled from her mind. Raven fought against the intrusion in her mind as she was filled with memories of Raven pushing against his chest.
