Corwyn V
He chuckled softly as he wiped a bit of chocolate off Ruby's lips with a swipe of his thumb, before leaning forward and placing a soft kiss on the edge of her mouth. His heart was full of almost tangible joy at the confused and then embarrassed expression he got from the girl. Her cheeks lighting up in a fire of red, the petite, but grown young woman of nearing eighteen squirming in his arms as they feasted within the Patch Forest on a selection of Vacuonian Chocolates.
They were on yet another of their dates, such things becoming increasingly common as the two opened up their schedules to spend as much time as possible with one another. It was practically all but determined that the two of them were aiming for getting on a team with one another within Beacon, something that he'd had to listen to the girl babble about their mystery future teammate's weapons and loadouts. Especially now that school was almost over.
Such a thing might annoy others, but Corwyn found it just endearing; both of them having started to rub off on one another as the month passed within their relationship. Corwyn had found that Ruby was a wonderful thing that happened in his life, as whenever he started to feel a bit of burnout from his intense training regime, he'd think of her, and go all the harder. She kept him from being complacent.
The hours on top of hours grated mentally even if the physical suffering was made lighter from his Auric abilities. Ruby was ever the bit of mental umph that got him either going further or dropping those activities entirely to do something with her.
Some of their activities were rather unique. From hunting within Patch's Forest, and by that he meant actually hunting the various deer and rabbit populations and eating the wild game as a date and survival practice. Those were fun times, camping out among the stars and sleeping inside of one another's tents, enjoying soft and quiet love making into the silence of the night.
Ruby too started to join him in his training. Something he'd said or did had really spurred the girl on. He hadn't really talked with her regarding what was going on in her head that made her join his near suicidal training regimen -altered to fit a more normal sleep and rest schedule- but he was glad that she seemed to gain some new passion in becoming a better Huntress.
At school their relationship was, to both of their relative embarrassment, a very public piece of gossip. Neither of them were really experienced or willing to 'hide' their relationship, and their close nearly glued on presence with one another at school, in classes, or training, and outside of school had attracted eyes who quickly arrived to the correct conclusion.
Corwyn laughed as his girlfriend -although such a term felt weak for what he truly felt for this girl- started to tickle him. He let his aura down for the action to truly go through, rolling onto the blanket they'd set up, before rolling a bit too far and making a mess of themselves in the grass. He blinked up, staring into the soft silvered eyes that seemed to shine within the evening as they stared down at him.
His hands ghosted up along Ruby's body, fingers ghosting up along her petite hips, softly stroking along the laces of her corset as his hands and arms started to pull her closer. Slowly they started to kiss, Corwyn's hands threading themselves into her messy crimson gradient hair. They separated with Ruby curling her body into his torso, burrowing her head into the crook of his neck as he closed his eyes, and simply enjoyed her warmth.
A smile curled itself onto his lips as he fell into the moment. Then with a heave, he lifted the girl up and rolled them back over to the blanket. Ruby let out a squeal as he did so, while Corwyn laughed at the pout she leveled at him.
Corwyn smiled softly, placing a soft kiss on her neck. "I have something for you…" He whispered. His voice felt oddly, tight. A voice inside his skull whispering 'maybe this is too fast'. Yet another, one who grew up within the world of Remnant refuted that notion, one that wasn't besieged by hellish beasts at every waking second.
Ruby blinked as she quickly sat up with a wide smile on her face, "Tell me!" She demanded as she laid down in his lap, eye glowing in merriment. Corwyn chuckled as she started to mutter theories and softly jostled him by his arm to 'hurry up'.
Corwyn smiled as he hesitantly pulled the girl up. She looked at him with queer eyes, before he walked over to his nearby haversack, a unique item he'd recently created named 'Stomach', a massive Spatially Expanded Bag that held a large majority of his items. He'd found that he couldn't make a Storage Ring, finding some form of 'conflict' error when trying to search or find that specific enhancement and place it on a ring.
Something that didn't bother him too much as instead he'd just created Stomach.
Stomach (Unique)
Artisan Craftsmanship: While not of a level of quality that would be considered masterful in the direct relationship to the object's intended purpose, this bag has been modified and uniquely decorated with artistic designs to create a more rustic and old-world feel than a normal modern bag. Made out of leathers and old techniques of bag creation; this backpack acts as a unique haversack with a single sole pocket.
Spatial Storage: This bag and its interior has been expanded fivefold. Its contents do not weigh to any that hold or pick up the bag. Time is irrelevant inside the space, halting the decay or rot of anything that enters.
Inventory: The space has been expanded fifty-fold, now holding a space two-hundred and fifty times the size of its original volume. The user will always know what is inside the bag.
Goblin's Portal: When lost or separated from its creator, the bag will automatically summon a portal of glowing gold energy, teleporting itself next to its creator.
He felt Ruby at his back, peering into the black void with mystical currents of roiling purple. With an amused snort, he quickly slipped his hand into the void and pulled out a small box, before dashing around the bag; moving too quickly for Ruby to see what he'd pulled out.
She flapped her arms, a pout on her face, "Corwyn! C'mon, let me see." She vanished in a cloud of rose petals, literally dematerializing into that cloud and then reforming a short distance from him. An added effect of her semblance they'd discovered, granting her amazing speed, defense, and mobility that they were already working on incorporating into a confusing and mind bendingly hard to defend against combat style.
He smiled softly, before slowly kneeling. Ruby blinked, tilting her head as she stared down at him, before her eyes went wide as he held out a small velvet-lined box.
"I…" All of his speeches, carefully recited, methodically created vanishing on his lips. "It's been six months since we've started dating. It's been such a wild ride, a whirlwind romance, and, very quickly on, I realized that I loved you. Gods, do I love you." He smiled, eyes tearing up as he cracked open the case to reveal a divinely crafted ring.
The Beating Hearts (Relic)
(Note: This Item has Free Enchantment Slots)
(Note: This is a Set Item. Its enchantments affect all of the items within its Set.)
Ascendent Craftsmanship: Two rings were made by an artistic student of metalworking and craftsmanship. Created by his hand, he sent the rings to a local jeweler in hopes of having them inlaid with his finest Rubies. The Jeweler in question had heard rumor of the young man dating a lass he fondly remembered, and so as a gift, placed his heart and soul into carving the gems these rings are inlaid with. Their Masterwork Quality was further enhanced by the student's soul and semblance into an Ascendant piece of art.
Soul Bound: Ascendent are the ties that bind, and the love that creates. This ring is a representation of love, granting it extreme Auric conductivity, while also always giving its wearer a sense of direction where their love is.
Beating Heart: So long as the wearer's heart still beats, they are not dead. A slow regeneration factor can allow even brain death and dismemberment to be recovered from.
A Memory: When focusing on this ring, the wearer will remember a fond memory. They are immune to the effects of Apathies, Chills, Geist's, and other subversive Grimm.
Regeneration: While wearing this ring, one's natural regeneration is enhanced ten-fold. Their body will heal correctly, regardless of how wounded or maimed they are. This does not damage the natural life-span. This effect stacks with Aura's natural effect of regeneration.
Love's Blossom: Love once blossomed, never fades. Till old age and night of day, till great tragedy and heart's decay, through all hells; their love will always blossom.
Spiritual Meld: When the Soul Bound targets of the twin rings both have them equipped, a truly unique phenomena occurs. Both of the Soul Bound share their Semblances, capable of using them at will.
"Those feelings…they inspired me. I wanted to make something for you, something that was useful." He chuckled, "It took me months to make these rings, but they were worth it; so very worth it." He smiled sheepishly, "But, halfway through I realized that I'd made rings. That I planned to give to you, and realized that I'd be practically proposing…Well, the thought wasn't a bad one. I'm not 'fraid of no commitment, yeah?" He felt himself start to ramble, closing his eyes and counting to three, before opening them and looking up at Ruby, only to see…
Ruby was standing shocked still with her hands covering her face, yet even with them covering them, he could still see that she was bright red. Her eyes were wide and fixated into his own, both of them staring at one another with bright feelings only now becoming so very real.
"Ruby." His mouth moved without thought, "Will you marry me?"
Corwyn was nothing if not embarrassed, wondering where he went wrong with his eighteen-month relationships that were dropped without a feeling or twinge of emotion. Let alone other people of his world that dated for years before getting to this point.
Corwyn meanwhile knew while not standard or exactly common, these sorts of relationships were more welcome within this world. Six months was a decent amount of time in both worlds, too. Normally in more rural communities and built between childhood friends or families that were very close together, or between the rich and aristocrats of the world.
He was still spitting on several important factors of tradition, and their relationship was blazing fast, but Corwyn thought he was going to die young, something that even with all his abilities and powers.
Well call him pessimistic, but those thoughts didn't exactly change. He knew he was heading into hell by his career choice, and powerful or not, that just meant he'd be fighting more and more deadly foes.
He'd rather enjoy his life rather than refuge in some shitty form of emotionless gray stoicism.
And if that meant wanting to make something nice for his girlfriend spiraled out of control and became a deep-rooted desire to get married and fight against the hordes of Grimm with his wife…
Sign him the fuck up.
"Totally! Uhwah, Yes! I meant to say yes!" Ruby flailed around, trying, desperately to correct what she'd said.
Corwyn just smiled at his awkward little rose, rising from his kneeling posture, closing the case of twin rings with a flick, before wrapping her up in a tight hug.
He fell down onto the blanket, flaring his Aura to soften the impact, rolling to the side and spooning his Fiancée. The thought made him giddy inside.
He leaned over the embarrassed girl and planted a soft kiss on her neck as she buried her face into her knees, trying to hide from the world of her embarrassing response.
"Come out, my little rose." He whispered, "The sun is shining yet still."
Ruby sniffed and peered up at him with a pouty and sad expression, beating herself up about 'ruining' the moment. Corwyn just smiled, "Ruby, don't be sad. You're making me sad." His hand brushed her slightly wet eyes, wiping away a few tears.
She sniffed again.
"Ruby, you forgot your gift…" He whispered into her ear as she tried to bury herself into her knees again.
Ruby perked up, before giving him a humorlessly cute glace out of the side of her eyes. Like a kitten who was sad, but knew just the thing that'd cheer them up, right out of reach.
He pulled out the velvet box and softly flicked it open, resting it before her eyes, letting her see the two rings displayed within. "I call them The Beating Hearts." The rings were ornately decorated, twisting silver that was created to look nearly organic in form. Coated over the silver was a uniform red of Ruby. There were no gems truly inlaid into the art, as the Jeweler he'd sent the ring to had a unique semblance that allowed him to meld the gems together, creating an entirely uniform 'glaze' of Ruby over the entire ring.
He plucked the one that he knew as Ruby's finger size from the box and twirled it inside his fingers. "I Enchanted these rings." He'd long since given the low-down of his Semblance to his fiancée, and so she knew the semblance well and its broken nature.
Glancing down he saw the burning curiosity in her eyes, along with the wanting desire.
"The Ring is my greatest work yet. A Relic." She vibrated against him, practically begging to know more.
"I made the ring as a representation of our love. Or, what I wanted our love to be." He gently stroked along her jaw. "Undying. Eternal. Till old age and night of day, till great tragedy and heart's decay, through the hells that await us; our love will forever blossom. New, fresh, eternal."
He lifted the girl in his arms, positioning her so she was sitting in his lap. They pressed their foreheads against one another, Ruby's eyes softly tearing as she listened to him speak. "If you wear this ring, know this. I belong to you; I will always love you, never doubt that. Yet the same, you are mine."
Ruby chuckled, placing a soft kiss on his neck, "Always so possessive, Core." She whispered.
"Greed is in my nature." He murmured back.
Ruby smiled lightly, "Treasures as far as they eye can see…" She whispered, staring down at his Necklace of Meditation.
"Nothing more valuable than the one that I've claimed. I'd trade all my wonders, all my works, all my creations for the one in my arms." He whispered back.
"Go on." She hugged him, and so he continued.
He spoke of its effects of regeneration and slight form of immortality tied to the heart, he mentioned its effects against the more insidious forms of Grimm, before finishing off with its more…interesting effects.
"Wearing this would normally do nothing." Corwyn stated. "Yet, with one last enchantment, I've created something that would allow you and only you to wield my weapons and creations as if you were I."
Ruby's eyes widened, but before she could get a word out, she saw the look in his eye and waited for him to continue.
"It does this by linking our souls, a Spiritual Meld, sharing our Semblances between one another. Just as you would have my semblances, I would have yours.."
Tears once again gathered in Ruby's eyes, her head falling into his chest. Corwyn blinked, stroking her back.
"What's wrong Ruby?" He asked softly.
"-too sweet." She whispered.
Corwyn raised an eyebrow, "Too sweet? What have you done with my Ruby?"
She giggled, looking up at him with teary eyes and a lovingly wide smile, "Love you." She whispered weakly.
"As do I, my sweet rose."
He grabbed the fallen rings laying out on the blanket, before gently taking Ruby's hand. She watched as he placed the ring on her finger, before he did the same as she.
The moment his ring was placed in its entirety, they both froze.
Aura bubbled off of their forms, washing over one another.
Corwyn's nebula array of confusing colors mixing with Ruby's rose red, dancing, intertwining, molding. Both of them stared at one another, locking eyes as their souls intermixed, truly feeling one another. It went beyond mere intimacy as they felt their core personalities, or in Ruby's case, felt two.
Twin personalities that warbled over one another, working and puppeting their body like observing generals who argued and debated the best course of action. One, the aspect of greed and possessiveness she'd fallen in love with, the one of witticisms and strange sayings; the odd and weird aspect, the one that she entrusted her own strangeness with.
The other was that of a soldier, the one who she sought refuge to in her times of confusion. The one she saw in the arena and when slaying Grimm and felt her loins light on fire. The unshakable grit to never give up and always keep moving. The one she loved for his will and motivating force of mind that meshed and twisted with the other's words and force of personality.
The one that was the scholar, that would talk her ear off about guns and bullets, of her fantasies and her dreams. The one that kept her inner-child alive, that danced like a boy, the two of them walking onwards, always dreaming and seeking the next new thing.
Just as she saw them, they saw her.
The strange, the cute, the hidden depths, the stumbling socially awkward girl who once wished to be a Hero; yet now sought to become a Huntress. It was like they fell in love all over again, and in a snap…
They realized it never ended.
This connection always there.
This feeling, always felt; their connection with one another…
Eternal.
The two teens stared at one another, before Corwyn took her in a hug and the two merely existed.
They stayed in that embrace for hours, the moon shadowing over the two as they stared up into the darkness of the night.
Corwyn's eyes suddenly widened as he tossed Ruby towards where Crescent Rose laid in its compact form on the edge of the blanket. Communication that went beyond words and was more spiritual had her flip her legs into the air and snatch the weapon while in mid-air.
The gun fired, sending the already flipping girl flipping even faster through the air, before her semblance activated and in a chaotic swirl of energetic petals she materialized with her scythe extended and silvered eyes narrowed.
Corwyn wasn't idle and had dove for his hammer standing upright on its head, the heavy weapon to anyone else was light as a baton in his hands as he twirled it around. With a gesture, a ring on his finger reacted with arcane energies, pulling his backpack towards him and his arm speared through one of its hoops, slinging it around his torso. His free hand reached into its confines as he pulled out a deadly javelin, crackling with restrained wrath.
The two Hunters stared with keen eyes at the forest's line they were resting with, eyes narrow, before Corwyn's stellar practice with Auric Techniques, more specifically the enhancement of the eyes, caught sight of what was alerting the sixth sense that all Hunters had.
In a blip of motion, a supernaturally trained and refined physique suddenly went from zero to one-hundred as he sent his javelin flying. With a motion of his soul, his feet left shattered craters in the earth as his hammer trailed behind him, charging towards his target with roses following behind him.
A bird squawked oddly as it dove to the side with unnatural ability, narrowly dodging the blade of the javelin that promptly exploded behind it as it buried itself into a nearby tree. Heavy decibels of sound pounded into the bird, dazing it and leaving it entirely unprepared.
Its inhuman beady eyes seemed to gain some form of expression as it recovered enough to stare forward where a sudden shadow of the moonlight towered.
A massive man of nearing two-meters towered over the bird with unnatural abilities as his Auric senses confirmed this crow had Aura itself; a massive hammer that crackled with devastating energies was held over his head, eyes stoic as he struck down.
The bird poofed and in one second there was a bird, the next a man with a desperate expression on his face and a drawn massive blade appeared.
Blade and Hammer met, the disheveled man forced to a knee, grunting as the hammer broke his guard with its greater weight and strength. The moment it broke his guard the hammer glowed, before the next thing the disheveled man knew was his head was ringing, and he was for some reason planted inside a tree.
The man coughed, staring with queer eyes at the deep furrow inside the earth his body had carved, and groaned at the following feeling of bone deep pain that his entire body screamed. A mental check of Aura had him know he was at a rough forty percent, in a single exchange.
"Fuck." The man muttered as he crawled out of the tree and grabbed his nearby blade, Harbinger somehow transforming into its scythe form in his tumble.
The man heard a distant cry of, "Qrow?"
"Whazzat? Who called my name?" The Veteran Hunter asked with a slur on his tone, head still ringing from what he now could tell was a blast of thunder.
"Professor Qrow?" He heard a more mature and male voice call.
Qrow blinked and saw in the distance the massive man with a hammer on his shoulder standing next to his niece. "Shit kid…the fuck was that?" He groaned as he worked feeling into his back.
"Semblance." The teen answered as the two of them walked up to him.
"Uncle Qrow!" A chipper voice called out, before he grunted as Ruby buried herself into his sore form.
"Why didn't you tell me you could turn into a bird!?" She asked with joy in her voice. "That's like, so cool! How is it to fly? Why are you a crow? Is it because of your name?"
"Jeez kiddo, slow down." The man asked with a wince, "Your boyfriend over here nearly put me out of commission." Qrow blearily stared over at where Corwyn was inspecting the disheveled Hunter, "How'd you get so fast, kid? Swear I thought Ruby was rushing over to me with all those petals."
"Me and Ruby can share each other's semblance." Corwyn stated blandly. "I have her's, and she has mine. It's a…new thing."
The hunter blinked, but furrowed his brow, "Wouldn't sharing your semblance just be allowing her to share her's?"
"I have two." Corwyn said casually, making the man blink. "Anyway, what're you doing over here old man? Stalking us on our date like that; felt some hostility in that gaze of yours."
Qrow sheepishly scratched his cheek, "Wanted to test you out, y'know? Can't have my niece's boyfriend bein' some loser who can't even detect some KI, yeah?"
Ruby rolled her eyes, "You're just like Yang, Uncle Qrow!" She whined, turning to Corwyn, "He became a teacher at Signal specifically to scare the boys!"
Qrow sheepishly sunk into himself under both of their unimpressed stares. 'Professor Qrow' was something of a lesser-known legend, known to be both Ruby and Yang's Uncle, he shows up randomly and tends to host exceptionally brutal physical conditioning and sparring practice with whatever grade those two nieces were in.
He was a really good weapon's master though, and Corwyn doubted that he could've done Qrow in so bad in an actual duel between him and the man without the element of surprise and his new speed. Although now that he'd solved his greatest issue in combat, speed, with Ruby's semblance, his fighting style was going to need to go through a heavy revamp.
Even then, his Thunderous Wave attack, and his other unique attacks using Malleus was rather…unfair in combat all said. Each one could take an experienced Hunter off their game like he'd just done and send them into the dirt for a follow up.
Corwyn rolled his eyes at the macho-sizing up the man had tried to do, which wasn't really that wise considering both of the teens were somewhat hyper-aware of the fact they were picnicking inside a Grimm Infested Forest and would thus be reactive to such negative intent.
"Well, nice meeting you, Qrow." He held a hand out and the Hunter took it, and they shook firmly. "Name's Corwyn Ambers."
Qrow grunted, "Nice meeting you, kid. Good arm you have there, although…dual semblances, huh?" The man grimaced, bad memories filling his head with people with that 'condition'.
Corwyn rolled his eyes, "Sign me up for whatever psyche test you need, mate. I ain't some raging psycho or sociopath. I got my ticks and funks, comes with having something resembling a self-diagnosed MPD, but shit's life."
Qrow glanced over to Ruby, wondering if she was going to call him on his curse, but was surprised to not see it. He chuckled grimly, wondering when she grew up from the little girl he once knew. "Ruby, this guy wacko?" He asked.
His niece gave Corwyn a once over with an eye closed, "A bit, but no more than like, dad." She stated.
"Yikes." Qrow muttered before sighing, "Well, you two caught me, have fun love birds, I gotta go."
Ruby frowned at that, "Are you going to stay over for a bit?" She asked with hope.
Qrow frowned, "Hrm, sorry kiddo. Popped over to check in on Tai and the family; he's been sending me some concerning messages about Ya…" He shook his head, "Nothing you need to worry about, but it seems to have been resolved. Decided to check out your boyfriend, especially when I heard that you haven't been back and it was midnight." He gave them a light glare, to which the two teens sheepishly looked away. "So, I'm heading back out." Qrow gave them a peace sign, before transforming into a bird and flying off.
"He seems cool." Corwyn muttered, before shivering. "Cold out now."
Ruby nodded, "Head on back?" She asked.
Corwyn nodded, "Sure."

Ascendent Craftsmanship: This armor set has been forged and fashioned by a prodigious smith who took great lengths to craft a worthy set of armor. Furthermore, its wearer benefits from this effect by having their own healing factor doubled by Stormplate's aura assisting their own when injured.

Sea of Souls: Through deep meditation, you allow yourself to be awash with the feelings, emotions, and nuanced depth of surrounding souls. This is an overwhelming sensation, but while meditating in this state, you regenerate your Aura at a dramatically accelerated rate.
The Beating Heart (Relic)
Due to one of the Soul Bound having Two semblances, the other Soul Bound must make an active effort in spiritually 'grasping' which Semblance they wish to use.

Mundane Quality: This is a roll of bandages. They will do their job.
Healing Wraps: When wrapped around a wound, they will magically heal and start to rapidly regenerate. As the wound heals, the bandages securing it will start to flake away into nothingness.
Endless Roll: This roll is endless. It keeps on going, and going, and going.
Spatial Storage: This bag and its interior has been expanded five fold. Its contents do not weigh to any that hold or pick up the bag. Time is irrelevant inside the space, halting the decay or rot of anything that enters.
Inventory: The space has been expanded fifty fold, now holding a space two-hundred and fifty times the size of its original volume. The user will always know what is inside the bag.
Goblin's Portal: When lost or separated from its creator, the bag will automatically summon a portal of glowing gold energy, teleporting itself next to its creator.
