Chapter 4 - Icecream

Isabella couldn't argue with the man anymore. She could only curse him in her heart.

She had to find a way to permanently escape from this man even if it meant for her to marry a random man.

She signed the transfer papers and threw them and took her daughter to walk out of the restaurant.

Everything happened hastily and she still couldn't believe what she did a few moments ago.

She slapped that bastard's face with the papers in her hands.

Her behaviour might seem impolite to others. But what she did to him was a far cry from what she suffered. In her opinion, only when he's beaten to death by her, her behaviour could be called as rude.

Since she was already late to her work, Isabella thought she might as well give a plausible excuse and take a day off.

"Baby, since I'm already late to work, I've decided to take a day off. How about we hang out in the park near our house?" Isabella asked her daughter while walking out of the restaurant.

"Really. I love to play with Mommy" the child clapped her tiny hands with a cheerful smile.

Isabella called her superior and asked for a leave. She didn't forget about her daughter's nanny.

She messaged that middle-aged woman and said she would take care of the girl for that day and asked her not to come to the house.

Only after making sure everything was fixed, did she hail a taxi towards the park. The mother-daughter duo soon dropped near the park.

They had lots of fun, both laughing loads until they had no strength in them to continue playing.

"Baby. Would you like to eat anything?" Isabella asked. She wanted to let her daughter have some good food instead of her crappy cooking.

"Yeah. Mommy, Let's go and grab some Ice-cream" the little girl was instantly cheered up hearing her mommy's words.

"No, baby. You can't eat ice cream"

"No...mommy. I want to eat ice cream" the baby girl's eyes became teary.

'Dear. Don't trouble me' Isabella was put in a tough spot. She wanted her child to understand her words clearly and tried coaxing the baby with her soft voice.

"Listen, baby. You can't eat cold foods. That's bad for your health. What if you catch cold?" Isabella tried to cajole the kid.

"What's so bad about it? I've seen other kids eating lots of ice-cream on TV. Why can't I eat ice-cream if others could eat it? It's not fair" the child started crying, almost screaming at the top of her lungs.

"Baby... don't cry. You really can't have cold food, listen to mommy. Okay?" Isabella tried to comfort her child and wiped the tears from the little girl's face.

"Mommy, Can't I.. just have a... small lick?" the child asked for one last time in her broken voice.

Isabella felt sad for her child. Being helpless on watching her daughter's teary face, she finally decided to find a shop nearby and walked out of the park.

"Baby. Listen to mommy. I checked around. But there are no shops here. So, You can't have an ice-cream now" Isabella tried explaining to her daughter.

"But can I have one later, when we see an ice cream shop?" the child still had her heart lingering towards the ice cream.

Her mother never allowed her to have any cold foods and drinks. Even during hot summer, her mother would choose other alternatives like mint juice and coconut water instead of cold water.

But now she came out for the first time with her mother to have fun but all her hopes were shattered immediately.

"Sure. Now, let's go and eat something else"

"Mommy, how about some cotton candy?" the little one asked with her eyes twinkling in anticipation.

"No. Let's eat something that's not so sweet" Isabella said and then grabbed her daughter's hand.

"Something that's not sweet?!" the child looked up at her mother and asked in a puzzled tone.

'Who eats foods that are not sweet?' the child thought in her mind and shook her head helplessly.

"Baby.. let's go eat some hotdogs?" Isabella looked down at her daughter to see if she agrees with her.

"Hot dogs? Who eats dogs and cats?" the little bun cried out with puppy eyes.

'God. Why is she behaving so odd today? Is something wrong with her ?' thinking that her child was acting weird, Isabella tapped and checked her child thoroughly.

But she found nothing wrong with her child.

The little girl found her mother's actions silly and forced a smile "Mommy, I'm fine. Don't worry" and then her voice turned the softest "It's just that I really want to have something sweet like ice-cream"

Isabella felt a headache coming when she found the fact that her daughter was still talking about ice-cream.

"Baby. What happened? Why are you acting so strange today? Why are you being so stubborn? huh?" Isabella held her head.

Her mind was at the edge of blowing up like a ball of fire.

She never saw her daughter being so hard-headed. Her daughter had a brain that's better than most children of her age and she always minded her behaviour. But today her attitude seemed completely unbelievable.

For the first time, she found her daughter completely annoying.

"Mommy. It's not me, you are being strange. You always told me that you'd do anything for my happiness. But you never thought of your happiness. I know you are upset because of that man. I saw it once on TV and I just thought you would also become refreshed and happy by eating something sweet like ice cream or cotton candy" the little girl said in her childish voice.

"That's why..." the child continued in a low voice, struggling to keep her eyes from tearing again but was stunned by her mother's sudden tight hug.

Listening to her daughter's words, Isabella plopped down on her knees.

She started crying with a flow of tears running down her eyes. She never thought her child would be so considerate of her and think about her happiness.

In contrast, she was getting impatient with her child's behaviour.

'Am I even worthy of being this little angel's mother?' She thought hugging her baby girl.

Isabella's tears wetted the girl's clothes so much that the child felt cold when the air hit her.

To make her mother feel at ease, the little one playfully teased "Mommy. You should just stop crying. I don't want to get my dress dirty because of your running nose"

"Haha.." Isabella chuckled. She then stood up and wiped her tears.

'I hope I can find her real father one day. I should see what kind of man gave me this beautiful angel' Isabella thought while smiling at her daughter.
