In a facility located under a vast ocean, an experiment is ongoing. The government has given permission to the head scientist to research in creating a portal for dimension traveling. After three years of non-stop work, the team had successfully created a prototype, and everything went according to plan until it didn't. "Everyone get out of the facility now!!!" a man ordered through the speaker in the midst of the chaos. The portal got out of hand in the testing chamber, "sir, I can't stop it, we need to get out of here" as people are running to the exit, one of the scientists said while trying desperately to end this catastrophe. "Sir please, why are you just standing there?" The scientists looks up from the control panel to see the head scientists whose just standing in the center of the chaos staring at the portal. The scientists runs up to him, "what are you doing, sir? we need to lea-" as he grabbed the man's arm and pulls him, he saw the man's face. He was smiling with eyes in awe of what he had achieved, "sir?" The scientist was not able to comprehend what he was seeing, sweat running down the scientists neck as he stood there with the head scientists not more then 50 feet from the portal. As people were pushing and pulling each other to get to the exit, "I finally did it" the head scientists lead out a word, his smile growing as he turns to the scientists. "Till we meet again on the other side" the man pats the scientists shoulder, the scientists face was left in disbelief and fear while he stare into the eyes of the man he followed and trusted, "what are you say-" before the scientists could finish his words the portal exploded. The bright light of the explosion engulfed everyone in the facility as they screamed and ran.
The disaster spread on the news with headlines "humanities last hope crumbled as researchers failed to find a way out of this world" but none was surprised over the fact that the explosion killed many people in the facility. For the public that was normal because the Earth wasn't the same anymore since what happened 20 years ago. This seemed nothing merely but mere casualties of the harsh reality of this world. But that's a story for another time, this story is about how this world got even worse and the results of it.
Present day
What seems to be another normal day soon take a flip on the world. In only a minute, a worldwide disaster emerge out of nowhere. Portals to unknown worlds/dimensions simply appear out of thin air on the skies, and dropped lands, mountains, dessert, islands, and more on to the surface of the earth. This resulted in cities destroyed, chaos reigns on the world. The government is in shamble as the world fall, as days pass things got quite. Everything seems fine, but people still wouldn't dare to explore these new lands. Until one day.
5 days after the disaster , in a prison on a island located near one of the last 5 standing cities on the surface of earth which is called Roigen. This prison is quite famous for keeping the largest amount of the most dangerous criminals, with 50.000 inmates and 5.000 guards the prison is massive and has the security to lock up the most dangerous inmates from the outside world. In one of the cells in the maximum security section of the prison, a man in black prison clothing is just laying on the bed. The cell seems relatively clean and well kept, the walls and furniture are all white. As the prisoner sleeps in the cell, his long black hair with some red highlights on the edges of his front hair fall onto the sofa suddenly the lights turn on and guards with full armor bust through the cell door, they surround the prisoner who is still asleep. "Get off the bed and put your hands above your head slowly" one of the guards ordered, the prisoner wakes up and turns to the guards. His crimson red eyes with an x symbol in both pupil glow as they pierce down the guards, the guards waver a little but stood their ground. The prisoner smiles, showing his teeth which are sharp like a monster's "oh, what's this? Have they chosen to let me go on another rampage" the prisoner said in a menacing tone. One of the guards let out a gulp and they raise their guns to him, "just kidding, you guys should learn to take a joke for once" his voice drastically change to a friendlier and laid back tone. "man, you guys should have seen your faces, oh wait you can't" he stand up and raises his hand above his head, "so where are we going?" he smiles. The guards look at each other and signal one of them to go put the cuffs on him, the guard reluctantly goes and takes the prisoners hand to his back and put the cuffs on while the prisoner only smiles. The guards are confused by the strange behavior of the prisoner but carries on, they take the prisoner out of his cell and through the hallways.
They pass cells which differ in size, they take the prisoner to an interrogation room and sit him down in front of the table. The only light coming from the window in the room looking towards the city in the distance. "so? What's the party for??" he looks around the room like an excited child on his birthday, the Guards leave the room. "Man, they don't talk much huh?" a slight giggle escape his breath, his eyes then shift to the dark corner of the room. "you know, everyone saw you when we walk in right?" he smiles as he stares to the dark corner, a man suddenly emerge ignoring the prisoner's comment and walk slowly to the table anonymously. He sits down opposite of the prisoner and looks at him with a cold glare, his mustache brimming with power on his face, this doesn't phase the prisoner but instead made his grin larger. The man leans forward still looking cold and suddenly softens up, "was that good?" he ask eagerly waiting for a respond. "not bad actually, would have work with the other inmates" the prisoner smiles and gives a nod of approval. The man laughs at the respond "great then, I guess practicing on the mirror pay off" A big smile rest on his face as he sits back into the chair. "So…." The prisoner looks around the room and back to the door "what is this about?" he turns towards the man, facing him. They both stayed silent, the prisoner's eyes studying the man's expression but that smile hasn't left its presence. "They want you on a mission" finally the man spoke but his voice betraying the smile on his face, the voice was softer and gentle with a sense of worry. The prisoner scoffs at his words, chuckling like a kid "C'mon wardy, what's that tone for?" The prisoner leans forwards "Don't tell me you are worried for me? How sweet of you" He smiles. The warden only sighs "If they are willing to send you out, then it must be fuck up out there" the warden stands up and looks down on the prisoner. The prisoner chuckles again "is that right?" He stops and smiles looking towards the warden.
"What did you tell them?" The prisoner says as his eyes stays on the wardern, "of course you will go" the warden states without a moment of hesitation. "Starting to sound like you're my dad giving me permission" the prisoner chuckles "why should i go?". The warden looks confused "This would be your only chance of going out in decades" the prisoner thinks for a moment, "And i won't get taken back again?" The warden shakes his head. "This alone will put everything you've done out of mind, everything" the warden emphasizes his voice on the final word, The prisoner smiles. "They're crazy, must really be fuck up out there, huh?" A laugh escapes from the prisoner. "What do you say?" The warden sits down and waits for his answer, "one condition" the prisoner says as he looks out the window towards the city. "Consider it done" the warden says before even hearing what it is, the prisoner only grins and looks towards the warden "alright then, I'm interested".
The prisoner stands in front of the prison front gate, as 4 guards escort him out of the prison, he has changed out from the prison clothing to a white tank top from the prison and black long pants with a black chain sticking out on the rigth side, he then takes a black jacket and lets it hang on his arms before putting it on, the hood of the jacket has 2 big red X on the side. He looks into a mirror, touching his new cut hair, now shorter on the sides but still having some red highlights on the edge of his front hair. "Prisoner no.15-33-24, from this moment you are a free man. Welcome back to the world, X." The warden's voice coming out of the speakers as the gate slowly opens. X's eyes light up and a giant smile grows in his face as the view of the free worlds appears in the distance. "Give them Hell" the warden final words echoes through the prison, suddenly the voices of the other prisoner rally up into a chant. All 10,000+ prisoner screams out his name in unity, "show them all" one says, "give us a fucking show will ya" another screamed, "You better come back" another laughs. The guards takes X's arm and take him out of the prison gates, X's starts to giggle in response of all the other prisoners, slowly starting to laugh a loud as he steps his final foot onto the world.
On a boat transporting towards the Mainland, X stands upon the side as his handcuffs are taken off by a guard, he takes a deep breath of the air and closes his eyes for a while. The sound of high heels clicking on the ground approached him, a voice of a woman speaks up "I've been task to brief you on where you're going" she stood in her dark navy suit while holding a Pad in her hand, she fixes her glasses with another hand. X looks out to the view of the ocean and back towards the prison all with a grin, "you will be transported to a military base as soon as we touch ground on the mainland, there you will meet your team and be briefed more on the mission by the team captain" her eyes striking into X as she spoke, her brown long hair moving in the wind. X turns around and leans on the rail, looking up the sky "i can't go on a lil sight seeing before?" His tone sounding as unserious as ever. "There is no time, The world is in chaos and millions have perish, How dare you joke around in this moment" her voice raising with irritation. "Relax, what's your name?" He says without even showing a moment of interest. "I was told not to give you my real name, you can call me Emmy" X's eyes turns to the side, looking at her. "Emmy, tell me how serious i should be" Emmy looks in disbelief at his behaviour but swallows her anger "X, is your name right" she asked "well, i would like you to be considered about all the people that lost family and friends in this disaster, the world and governments are going crazy and have lost control, you and this team is our only hope in learning about what has happen at all" she speaks with certainty, not a moment her eyes showed fear or lies "so please, give this mission all the serious you have" she looks at him and waits for his response. X smiles at her words "sounds boring" he pokes out his toungue, "why you" Emmy starts to heat up from anger and glares at X. "I'm only here because this interests me, how desperate they are to be willing to let me out, so I'll go through it for now" X chuckles as he stood up from leaning against the rail, Emmy sighs in response and looks contempt with what he has said but suddenly a question appears in her mind, "What did you do that was so bad?" Emmy asked him. X only grins in her question, he starts walking pass her and leaving it as it is but whispers in her ears. Emmy's eyes widen in shock and her body starts to tremble in fear, X keeps walking away. Emmy stands there in thought but only one word stands out in her mind, Demon.
As the boat touches the mainland and the sight of the many workers walking around in the dock, X jumps down from the rain and lands in the middle of people which has not taken an interest in him at all. Emmy walks down the steps of the boat and stood beside him, "This way" she walks away towards a rally of cars in the distance out of the dock. X looks around at each one of the workers as he walks among them, smiling as he does. In his mind, he felt an unbelievable joy to walk among people with no restrain after so long, almost leading a stray but the sight of emmy caught his eye and he follow behind her. They get in the car and at a moment they all drive off, passing through the city, X can't help but look at the building and the streets filled with people walking. Emmy looks at X, "I'm curious, what will you do after this?" She looked out the window as well, "shouldn't i be serious and only think about the mission?" X chuckles. Emmy rolls her eyes "save the attitude" X chuckles at her as she rested her face on her palm while looking out the window. "I don't got anything plan yet" X said, "oh ok" Emmy just blurted out without interest in her voice anymore. "Want me to ask you out?" X grinned at her, "I'll punch you" Emmy glares at her. They arrived at he millitary base, soldiers await for the car to stop in front before opening the door and escorting X into the base. X looks at the building present infront of him and the rows of soldiers lined up to welcome him, he chuckles at the situation.
They enter the base and X is taken into a meeting room, inside the room already stands with what would be soon his comrades and team members. They all looked at him as he enters, X grins in response. The captain stands in front of the podium with a slideshow behind him, he wears a black vest with a very noticable dogtag resting on his chest, a scar on the side of his neck from what must be a knife or a bullet wound, build like a tank with black buzzed hair. "With everyone here, I'll start with the briefing" his voice breems with command and power. "You can all call me Bastion, but my real name is Jonathan Ramones, I am a former military operative with 15 years of experience in the field. The reason why I've told you my real name and past is because if we are to be a team then i would want it to be built with trust. So I hope that all of you can do the same" he stand proud and tall in front of each of his members with confidence. As his eyes fall down on the others, a woman stands up, she dawns a black suit with an interesting white tie, her hair cut short only falling to her shoulders, her smile feels to bring you in as genuine and with a soft spoken and calm voice "It is an pleasure to be here with you all, you can call me Crystal, my real name is Nathasa Harrison, currently I am a secret service operative. I look forward with working with all of you" she says as she looks around to everyone, bastion nods as she sits down. A Man stands up next "I am called Ronin, but my original name is shikuba mahato. I come from Mili+ary" he stand in a navy camo hakama, his hair tied up as a chonmage, his eyes pierce any who looks at them with a hidden bloodlust, he spoke with benevolence. He bowed down before sitting again.
A Man stood up with a grin on his face "I'm the Tech wizard, you can call me tech or techwiz. I'm fine with any, my real name is Louis vuid. I'm also from the Mili+ary. Weapon and tech expert at your service." He spoke with unbelievable arrogance and clearly thinks of himself to be the smartest in the room be it true or not. He wears a navy camo tracksuit, his hair stand up in the front like they were always goggles in his forehead, he finally sat down after looking at everyone with a cheeky grin. A woman stood up, she beams with ligth as her smile grows "hello everyone, you can call me Summer. My real name is Anna lemon, I am a military operative of 5 years in the medical field, please take care of me and i will take care of you" she stood with her carefree and eccentric voice, wearing only a yellow shirt with a white skirt, her long brown hair which has streaks of yellow in between tied up into a pony tail. She smiled as she sat down.
Lastly, X who stood in the back all this time said with his grin, "Nice to meet you all, I am X. Only X, i don't have any other name. I came from the prison over the ocean there, happy to be here" he said with not a single drop of seriousness. Suddenly a chuckle could be heard from one of the others, techwiz stands up and approaches X "only X?" His laugher growing "Come on Mate, what kind of stupid name is that?" His stood in front of X with a smirk on his face. X just stand there replicating his smirk, "it's the only one you need to know" X said. They both stood in front of each other, not letting down on showing dominance, suddenly the captain's voice said out loud "settle down". Tech smirks then scoffs "i wasn't gonna do nothing, i don't care about what he calls his stupid self anyways" he starts to back off, putting both arms behind his head and walking away. X eyes let out a disappointed gaze but shakes it off as he turns his attention towards the captain. "I appreciate each one of you for sharing your identity, now i would like to move on to the mission" he turn off the light with a click, and turns towards the screen behind him. "A week ago, a worldwide catastrophe emerge out of thin air. All over the worlds, these bubbles or what we now started calling them 'domains', they seem to be lands or places from other worlds that has suddenly appear in ours, we know nothing on how or why they have but we do know one thing. We from this side can enter and exit without any penalty, we could even poke our head into the sphere dome surrounding the exterial of the domain which covered our sights to see inside. With that, we could guess that anything inside the domains could enter and exit by will as well, some may already have exited to our land." The captain explained in detail. "Our mission, is to infiltrate one of the nearby domain that appered here, inside the domain we are task to learn, study, explore, research, and bring back anything that can help us study the reason behind the catastrophe." He looked at all of his members, "we will move out in 3 days, before that we should get to know each other better." He turn on the lights.
Crystal raises her hand, "excuse me, do we have any visual on the interior of the domain we are infiltrating?" Bastion turns to her, "Good question, No we do not. We have tried sending drones or cameras in but signal are always cut off, the exterior dome of the domain may have properties that interfere with electric signals. So we can only go in blind" crystal nods. "Any other questions?" Bastion looks around, suddenly techwiz speaks up "we can bring anything in right?" he said "only to aid us in our exploration, keep baggage to a minimum" bastion rest his hands on the podium, "yea yea, alright" techwiz leans back on his chair. "If there are no more questions, then you are all dismissed* bastion steps down off the podium. Summer looks around and walk up to X "yo, mr X, X-sy, X" she waves her hand "want a tour of the base?" She puts her arms behind her back and leans towards him, looking up at his eyes. "You never been here right? I can give you a tour of the facilities" she said smilling sweetly, X looks down at her and smirks "how kind of you, what about the others?" He looked towards crystal, ronin and techwiz. "We had a tour this morning, you came late" summer stood straight and went to his side, "alright, i can go for a walk" X looks at her while she smilled, feeling happy he agreed.
They walked around the base, she showed him where the gym, cafeteria, bunks, and every other room. X followed her from behind, seeing her enthusiasm as she called out places and rooms. "That's everthing" she stopped in front of the gym, "thanks, it was very informative" X looked around the gym. "Glad to help, anyways we still got time before dinner is served, care to talk" summer walks around the gymnasium with him. X turns towards her "sure, about what?" Summer smile falters a bit "you said you came from the prison, but you're not a guard are you?" X smiled "never said i was" summer chuckle "silly me for assuming" summer walked around him with her hand behind her back as he stood in the middle of the gymnasium. "So mr prisoner, what were you in for?" Summer slowly moved around him like a dance or a predator circling in on their prey. X follows her with his eyes, his smile hasn't faded "better if it stays untold and out of mind" he says. Summer shakes her head and looks at him with a soft smile, he sighs in return and said it. Summer stops in front of him, her smile now gone "tell me one thing, will you ever do it again?" Her eyes staying on his face, X smile fades as he thinks on it, he then lifts his head and looks straight onto her eyes with a grin "No". To anyone else, this would leave you with suspicion but to summer who has seen the eyes of those near death, with nothing left to hide but truth, she can tell when someone eyes tells the truth, and his eyes tells nothing but truth. Summer smiles, X seeing this smiles as well. "Spar with me" summer suddenly asked him, X is taken a back but grins in respons "sure".
Summer starts walking towards X, getting close with a smile on her face. X put his hands up to guard, summer puts her up, they stand in front of each other in their stances, studying the other's movements. Summer takes the first move as she sweeps the floor with her kick, X jumps back putting distance while summer keeps using her kicks as she gets closer, a kick from the left leg before spinning a kick from the rigth, X ducks his head and leans back to dodge the kicks. X throw ln a hook but gets block by her hand, another one from the other side and another one. "For a medic, you can fight" X said as he is dodging and blocking blows from summer, summer smiles in response "a girl gotta learn how to defend themselve" she says as she relentlessly press on X. X catches a punch from her, he grins from this while holding her hand, summer takes this chance to get on him and execute a triangle lock. She and X falls on the ground, X hold onto her leg trying to pull away, but she holds down harder. Summer smiles while gritting her teeth, X still grins, X then with strength stands up with her on him and slams her on the ground. Summer let's go from the pain, X gets on her and pull his hand back for a punch, she starts to cough. X smirks and gets off, summer sits up and looks at him "why didn't you finish me off?" X shrugs "what do you mean, you lose. I don't need to knock you out" she shakes her head "i would have" she says as she stood up. X laughs "no you wouldn't" Summer crosses her arms "yea i would, no mercy" X turns to her with a smile.
"You weren't looking to knock me out from the start" X said then walks away "I'm hungry now" he touches his stomach as he walks. Summer pouts but then smiles before following him behind "I'll give you a knuckle sandwich" she said with a big smile, X fake laugh at the dumb joke. They made their way to the cafeteria, it was already dinner time, the others were already at the table eating. "Sit here, you guys" bastion said from his seat, X and summer joins them, "what were you two up too huh? All sweaty just the both of you" techwiz smirks as he leans on the table looking at both of them, "we had a lil spar" summer takes a plate and puts food on it "a spar? How romantic" techwiz chuckles. Summer pouts "it's not like that" X put a plate down and gets to eating. "Who won?" Ronin jumps in, X just raises his hand with chicken in his mouth. "Boo, bully" techwiz calls out, "i lost fair and square" summer chuckle. "Spar with me next" ronin asked to X, X with food in his mouth just nods in response. "I would like one too" crystal looks at X with a smile. X swallows his food "alright alright, everyone can pick on the criminal, no regards to his feelings huh?" X said pretending to be hurt, everyone laughs at him. "This will be good for each of us to know each others strengths and weaknesses, so let's do it tomorrow" bastion announce to the group. "I'll pass" techwiz leans back, "pussy" summer said openly. "Whatever, I'm not a fighter" techwiz just shakes his head and accepts it. "Well you can be our punching bag then" crystal chuckles why she says that, "wow, that's how it is" techwiz looks in disbelief. The atmosphere of the dinner becomes light as everyone talks and joke around.
3 days pass like a whim, the team gets on a plane at the break of dawn, "alright, we are going to be dropped above the domain, everyone check your equipment" bastion shouts to the group amidst the sound of the plane's engine starting up, "roger" crystal says, "got it" summer sits down on a seat, "done" Ronin puts his bag behind him, "got everything i need" techwiz sitting on the floor with all his stuff out. X looking out the plane, bastion comes up to him "everthing alright?" He asked, X turn to him "yea, no problem" he smiled. Bastion nods "alright, taking off in 5 min". The plane takes off as everyone is strap to their seats, the plane flys over the city towards an open field, when the domain start to appear in the distance. "Wow, looks like a big ol boba" summer says looking out the window. As the plane approached the drop point, the back door start to lower as everyone starts to get ready to fall, "alright we do not have any confirmation on the fall distance, for god knows we might even fall on a mountain, good luck to all of you" bastion lil pep tall before the drop, everyone starts to do their final gear up. Bastion makes his way to the end of the plane and looks down into the domain, "nervous?" Techwiz asked him from behind. "Fuck yea" bastion said but with a laugh. "Alright, see ya on the other side" bastion looks back to the others then fell down backwards. X smirks, he jumps next, everyone follows from behind.
They fall through the air as the domain gets nearer, X eyes sharpen as he passes through. Everthing went dark before suddenly his eyes open to a bamboo forest below, the surrounding seem to go on for a while, inside the domain seem to store a whole forest. X eyes dart around the world, he saw a castle reminisce of the himeji castle only it was red and larger. He turns back to the ground, and opens his parachute, slowly descending to the forest below. Following behind bastion who has safely landed, the whole team fall behind. They landed in the bamboo forest seperated by a dirt path that seems to stretchout to the distance "Everyone alright" bastion shouted out, everyone else agreed in unity. Ronin's eyes spark in awe as he looked around the forest, then his eyes stayed on the direction of the castle in the distance "this place, it is like the one I've read in ancient books, this is the Edo era" ronin speaks. Summer jumps around "woah, i always wanted to go to japan, this is awesome" she is eccentric either way. Crystal packs her parachute "where should we go first" she asked the team. "Well the castle seem to be the obvious objective right?" Techwiz stands up after checking for any fallen equipment. Bastion looks around the surrounding, suddenly X's eyes light up and he smiled. Bastion eyes land on the trees, suddenly a rustle pass by, his eyes widen.
Ronin gets up and start walking to the direction of the castle "i need to see it, edo in it's golden edge" his admiration has blinded his judgment and awareness. Bastion turns to ronin leaving the group "wait, there's something" as he screamed out to ronin. The ground beneath ronin suddenly transform into spike as it pierced through ronin from below, ronin's body goes limp and dies instantly. Everyone went on alert, "hostile, unknown location. Keep close" bastion ordered. Crystal gets up and tries to join the group but with her back against the forest, she instantly got pulled, what follows are blood shot screams and spilling of blood. "Fuck, what the fuck" Techwiz takes out one of his weapon, an assault rifle and point it at the direction of the trees. "Focus and do not let your guard down" bastion ensure all of them. Summer smile has faden entirely as he stands near X, looking at the surrounding with high alert. "Why the fuck are they attacking us?" Techwiz shouted in fear, "everyone to me" bastion order as he clicks on a button in his suit, activating a force field, techwiz start running towards bastion. The ground under bastion start to inflate, without time to react bastion is squish from the ground and his barrier, techwiz fall behind onto the ground with his gun in hand. He starts shooting blindly through the trees, the ground beneath him start to swallow him like quicksand and in another second it has swallow him whole. Summer turns around to X, with despair in her eyes. "X, what do we do" X eyes don't faze, he still has this grin. Summer turn to anger as she shouted "stop smilling and help me", as she took a step towards X, from both direction of the trees fire shard of stone which pierce summer's body, she falls down to the ground dying.
X looks at all his once teamate and suddenly looks up to the tree to see he is surrounded by 10-15 ninjas, all using green ninja suits to hide themselves in the forest. "Why have you not killed me?" X smirked as he stands there unfazed by what has happened. "We only need one alive, and you are the strongest of all of them" a ninja said from the trees. "I see, less effort, less risk to your lifes" X claps in return. "Surrender yourself, or join them" another ninja said. "You are surrounded and out numbered" another one jumps in. X sighs and raises his arms "i surrender" he said happily.
