Ezra
"Mama," I tightly held my bottle as she approached me.
She lightly placed her hands on my shoulders and gently ran her hands over them. "You look handsome in your suit."
I didn't know what to say so I simply said, "thank you."
She dropped her hands from me then sighed. "Do you mind if we have a quick chat before dinner?"
I nodded and we walked to the living room without a word. She sat on the wingback couch and I sat on the couch not sure how this was going to go.
"I'm sorry about last time. It was uncalled for me to react that way. I should have heard you out instead of putting my own failures on you Ezra," she looked down to hands and her shoulders slumped, "your father, he hurt me so much that sometimes I can't see the difference between family members.
"I just didn't want you to go through what I went through. It would haunt me for the rest of my life if I let that happen. However it doesn't mean it was right of me to assume Ezekiel was just like them."
