Two demons take off from outside the green box, behind Mandella and me, and start heading towards Adam as the sky quickly fills with clouds. I took my eyes off the demons and quickly scanned the crowd, but they were hard to make out as if something was obscuring their faces. I quit trying to see them and focused on what to do to support Hannah with her opponents. But before I could do anything, the three demons that brought us here and didn't go after Adam busted inside the box. The demons sped past me towards Mandella but there were only two, I quickly turned and swung blind, and the demon grabbed my sword arm and swung to my neck. I realized that we might not make it out of there so easily.
Turning my body out of the way of the flaming sword it passed overhead. But the demon was smarter as he rotated my arm turning my body to face away from him. It just as smoothly let go making me lose my balance and nearly stumbled over myself as my chain moved out of my way. The demon grabbed my hair jerking me back in pain as I caught a glimpse of flame from the corner of my eye. I nearly froze but the voice screamed raise your sword. I did and not a second too soon the demon's flaming blade collided with mine and what I knew was around my heck. I didn't have the strength to break free, not able or not willing to use my First Blood Aura above 50 percent of my capacity as I wanted, and needed to avoid a takeover. But even with the enhancement of Mandella's mark, I was unable to pull out, The demon pulled my hair again and I again had a jerk reaction.
"The chain you fool, bring it up." The voice flooded my mind leaving me no choice but to obey. Listening to the voice, I do so, and not a second too soon as the demon struck again, but now his sword was tangled by the chain. My chain is the barrier between the demon and myself and it gives me a chance to catch my breath and think. I tried to figure out a plan but as I felt the grip tighten behind me I made my choice. Quickly swinging my sword I aim for between my head and his hand and cut my hair in one swift motion letting me put a long distance between me and it.
Watching the demon toss my hair aside a pit formed in my stomach only made worse as the demon extended the core of his sword into a spear though it was still caught by my chain. I caught a glimpse of Mandella and Hannah holding their own but that was punished as the demon pulled my chain and charged as I fell off balance. Luckily moving out of the way I reached for the bible in my pocket but again I was punished. The demon attacked with a spear thrust as its free hand pulled my chain towards itself. Rolling to the side I got grazed by the spear tip and dropped the book seeing this the demon quickly got between me and it. I could have tried to use an incantation, but I would be unable as Mandella had told me that correct pronunciation was important and under this circumstance, I doubted I could even say my name properly.
"allah yishfika, bism allah 'arqika." Damn it why it couldn't reach here as the sharp burst of manna that caught my attention banished a few of the demons around her. I was again punished for my actions, but as I heard the jangling of my chain I was able to dodge without looking allowing me time. Just then the domain shrunk around us and converged on the group of people. I felt the light and continuous healing fade. I felt the slow healing leave me and the burning pain in my arm flared up again, clouding my mind clean with agony, I could almost not see the next blow heading for my head. Bringing my chain up I am able to quickly protect myself and then put a lot of space between us.
"Shit" I couldn't help but swear as the gash on my arm starts throbbing hard.
"Let me take over! I can protect them." The beast said tempting me with its words but all it did was fill me with anger.
"No. You will kill them!" I say through gritted teeth as I try to keep the demon at bay but it wasn't going to stay that way, even if I still had the spear wrapped in my chains. As that thought crossed my mind I acted on instinct and rushed the demon. The demon struck forth with its spear aiming for my chest, but by sacrificing my slashed arm I made it past the tip and managed to get close enough for my plan to work. Whipping my chain up I surround us both, then quickly whip it away retacting it, and as I thought the chains warped around me and bound the demon, forcing its spear up against its body buying me some time.
Looking around it didn't look good, Hannah was fighting Miss Mianba and another guy and Mandella was being harassed by a demon but was still trying to chant. I felt through the chain the demon struggling, shifting its spear back to a sword in an attempt to cut my chains so I acted quickly. Rushing over to Mandella with the changed demon I attacked the demon harassing him and he didn't let that moment pass. He finally got his spell off banishing the demons harassing us, even as they tried to disrupt him but to no use. In a refreshingly blinding light, the demons screamed and in the next instant the weight in my chain disappeared and I felt comfort enough to breathe a sigh. With the light dissipated and the demons gone, we could finally help Hannah, help Adam, help all the people that were under his spell.
"You cannot help them, while I am helping you to stay alive." The beastly voice echoed, so I took a relaxing breath pushing aside the shouting voice in my mind.
A blast of hot wind, no not hot, burning wind pushing me over. It singes my skin and burns my lungs. I was unable to move as a cracking burning pain assaulted my body leaving me unable to scream as my lungs were ash, and with breath was as if I were standing with my head over a braai only 100 times worth. Just as quick it had come it had gone but that was almost worst. Coughing and trying to not vomit as regaining my breath felt alien and cold. As the tears left my eyes I realized I could see again and I saw Hannah and past Hannah to the crowd of people. They were still standing but not by their own will, if I thought demons moved like puppets on a string that was an insult as these people were truly lost and empty without a master but they wouldn't have to wait long.
Adam landed with the demon following on his heels, landing and causing a burst of air that threw many people around without sympathy leaving them scratched, bleeding, and broken. But they slowly began to move again getting up and moving back towards the demon, like puppets returning to their master. Klaang. A sound brought caused me to look at the demon. Adam landed a heavy smite that sent him flying back. Then like a flip was switch a flood of people filled the gap between them and I finally saw him. He was leading the charge and getting to Adam first, Bazel. Seeing that I wanted to charge to him first, to get him out but I wouldn't be able to help him.
"Now you have a chance, get the demon!" The voice pulled me back to reality. I wouldn't be able to help Bazel if I did that. Even if I did how many others would I be unable to help. But it was right if I could get to the red man and help Adam it could help them all. I didn't have to wait long seeing an opening I charged moving as fast as I could to help Adam buy him even a second to get the kill and to take out all my resentment at the same time. As I tightened the grip on my golden sword, wrapped in as much aura as I could handle, I waited until I saw the red man. I launch towards the red man like a sprinter still unable to use the high-speed technique but with under 100 meters, I reach him in the blink of an eye and swing down with all my strength and momentum.
It didn't work.
Like striking a wall with a stick, I was stopped, like a child. I was frozen with my head stuck looking at his face I wanted to see his face as he realized he misjudged me but now all I saw was a rotten smile framed with mockery. My heart stopped and my mind slowed and began to dim and I fell into unconsciousness I heard a voice clearly as if it was in my mind, A haughty demonic choir with a sarcastic tone.
"Thank you, Foolish Joshua." There was A reassuring confidence that took my heart and breath away. My muscles taughtened and relaxed against my will as my sword softly slid off his suit. Bearly enough to slip the fabric, exposing the skin underneath uncut by my blade the only blood that of my aura unable to go through.
"No, thank you." Was said using my voice, the words not mine from my throat as I lose control fully, everything turns red before it fades to black.
