Cherreads

Chapter 194 - Chapter 193: The Bait

After a whole afternoon, the Qin sisters lay exhausted on the sofa, their faces showing expressions of utter despair.

They had spent the afternoon trying to teach each other, but ultimately had to abandon the idea.

Throughout the afternoon, Qin Yao's knife seemed to have a mind of its own, becoming even more rebellious and cutting the radish slices more unevenly than before.

Similarly, when Qin Yao tried to have Qin Yue memorize the hotpot broth recipe, she faced significant setbacks.

Qin Yue tried hard to remember, but her mind felt like a mushy mess, and each time she wrote down the proportions and timing of the ingredients, the results were different.

"If only you could focus on making the hotpot broth and I could handle the cutting," Qin Yue murmured with a frustrated expression.

"Hmm?" Qin Yao's eyes suddenly brightened at Qin Yue's suggestion.

She sat up excitedly and patted Qin Yue's shoulder. "That might actually work!"

"Huh?" Qin Yue blinked, confused. "But if we're both busy in the kitchen, who will serve the customers?"

"We can hire waitstaff!" Qin Yao tapped Qin Yue's forehead. "I think the boss would agree. Why don't we ask him when he gets back?"

"This..." Qin Yue's eyes lit up at Qin Yao's words.

Right, they could hire staff for their little shop! She had been a waitress for so long that she had forgotten this possibility.

"Okay! Let's ask the boss when he returns."

Qin Yue jumped up energetically. "I'll go practice cutting radishes again!"

Watching Qin Yue rush to the kitchen as if possessed by a new spirit, Qin Yao couldn't help but smile.

She also stood up and headed to the kitchen.

She would practice making the hotpot broth as well. She had already bought the necessary ingredients.

Though they were not as high-quality as the boss's, they were sufficient for practice.

...

"This lake looks good, quite large," Qi Han wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, observing the Chiyan Lake before him through a gap in the rocks.

This was the fourth Chiyan Lake he had found under Ru Yi's guidance.

After the first lake, he had found the second and third lakes, but they were even smaller than the first one and did not have any thousand-year-level Hellfire Dragonfish, so he had to keep searching.

The lake before him was about 200 meters in diameter, making it medium-sized, with a higher chance of containing a thousand-year-level Hellfire Dragonfish. But there was a problem.

At the moment, there were no other spirit beasts around this lake. Without other spirit beasts, the Hellfire Dragonfish would not surface, making it impossible for Qi Han to determine if there was a thousand-year-level fish in the lake. This was a situation he hadn't encountered at the previous lakes.

"Ru Yi, what should I do?"

Qi Han was at a loss, staring at the calm lake surface.

With a thud, a massive figure landed beside Qi Han.

It was a hundred-year-level Inferno Barbaric Bull, a source of the marbled beef used in hotpot.

"I'm giving you a friendly hand by providing a bait. The rest is up to you," Ru Yi's voice resonated in his mind.

The body of the Inferno Barbaric Bull wasn't intact; the best parts had already been taken, clearly processed into ingredients by Ruyi.

Normally, the remaining parts would be fed to the other spirit beasts in the small world, but now they were perfect bait for Qi Han.

Qi Han's eyes lit up, and he chuckled, "Thanks for the gift of the Inferno Barbaric Bull, Boss Ruyi!"

On his shoulder, Pururu tilted his head to look at the massive creature on the ground, then cautiously turned to observe the lake's surface.

Grabbing one of the Inferno Barbaric Bull's legs, Qi Han gave a hefty tug, grimacing as he exerted force.

"Wow, it's really heavy."

Despite most of the prime parts being gone, reducing its weight by at least half, the Inferno Barbaric Bull still weighed about a thousand pounds.

A complete Inferno Barbaric Bull would probably weigh over a ton.

If it were his former self, Qi Han wouldn't be able to budge it.

Fortunately, he was now a Spirit Master, and with the use of spirit power, he could manage to move it.

Grasping the leg of the Inferno Barbaric Bull, Qi Han circulated his spirit power, significantly increasing his strength.

His face flushed slightly as he let out a low shout, using all his might to fling the Inferno Barbaric Bull's body towards the lake.

Thud!

With a heavy thud, the Inferno Barbaric Bull landed right at the lake's edge, with a portion of its body extending into the water.

Qi Han felt a stroke of luck.

He wasn't sure of his aim when throwing it, so he had hoped for the best.

Fortunately, it landed in just the right spot.

Now, it was time to see if there was a thousand-year-level Hellfire Dragonfish in this Chiyan Lake.

After a while, Qi Han grew impatient.

Just as he was about to speak, there was movement.

In the crimson lake water, a more vibrant red hue emerged.

The length alone, visible above the water, was nearly ten meters.

No doubt, this was a thousand-year-level Hellfire Dragonfish.

The Hellfire Dragonfish surfaced, quickly biting onto the Inferno Barbaric Bull's leg, attempting to drag it into the lake.

Qi Han knew he couldn't wait any longer.

If the fish retreated fully into the water, all his efforts would be in vain.

Thinking quickly, he stepped out from behind the rock and shouted.

"Monster, take my blade!"

Oops, wrong script.

Nevertheless, it served to catch the Hellfire Dragonfish's attention.

The fish paused, its slender head turning towards Qi Han.

Qi Han summoned his Kitchen Knife, his first spirit ring lighting up.

As he swung his Kitchen Knife with all his might towards the Hellfire Dragonfish, a ten-meter-long blade light with chilling killing intent slashed at it.

Even Qi Han was startled by the power; it was his first time using his thousand-year-level first spirit skill, and it was much stronger than before.

"Hiss!" The Hellfire Dragonfish let out a sharp screech, twisting its body to avoid a fatal hit, but the blade light still sliced through the water, leaving trails of blood.

Although the fish evaded the full impact, it was still caught off guard and wounded in the tail.

Furious, the Hellfire Dragonfish turned and shot a flame pillar directly at Qi Han.

The pillar, as thick as a bowl, would be deadly if it hit Qi Han.

However, Qi Han had anticipated this move.

As he moved closer to the Hellfire Dragonfish, he predicted its turn and dodged the deadly flame pillar.

The pillar missed and blasted through the large rock Qi Han had been hiding behind, causing his pupils to contract in shock.

That power is terrifying!

Missing its mark, the Hellfire Dragonfish grew even angrier, fire brewing in its mouth for another attack.

Qi Han moved in a zigzag pattern on the ground.

For a moment, the Hellfire Dragonfish couldn't lock onto him, unable to fire a second flame pillar.

Now only a dozen meters away from the Hellfire Dragonfish, Qi Han's eyes flashed as his second spirit ring lit up.

Time to see how powerful this unused second spirit skill really is!
