"What nonsense are you talking about?" Ou Chunhua laughed along with him, "My son is so outstanding, no girl is good enough for him. Your father and I can't approve of anyone, so you will have to decide."
"You said that yourself, Mom." Ou Yanan caught her at her word.
"Yes, that's what I said," Ou Chunhua sighed as if blaming him for his cunning, "but you can't drag this out indefinitely. How about setting a deadline for your father and me?"
"Let's consider it next year. I'm in my first year with the professor and I really don't have time to be distracted."
Ou Chunhua gazed at him again, "Do you really plan to be a doctor?"
Ou Yanan seemed to find her question amusing, his smile mischievous, "I originally studied medicine, so what else would I do, Mom?"
Ou Chunhua felt a twinge of regret. It seemed, in hindsight, that she should not have indulged his whim to study medicine, as if it had something to do with his past.
