Later that day, in the staff lounge of the VIP section of the hospital, the atmosphere was unusually subdued.
A few of the doctors and nurses who had attended to Ava Burnet gathered in hushed clusters, sipping coffee, frowning at their tablets, glancing at each other with uncertain eyes.
"You remember how we got out of the room and back here?" one nurse finally asked, brow furrowed.
"No," a young resident muttered. "I remember the beeping. The patient's vitals shooting up... then… I was at home, preparing to come here."
"Frankly, I only remember having a hearty meal after the patient was rescued! Our doctor is the best!" another added, rubbing his temple but smiling, nonetheless. "My uniform was folded neatly on my sofa, and I was in bed. I don't even fold my uniforms."
Someone snorted. "Maybe you sleepwalked. Adrenaline does weird things. Besides, who else has the keys to your apartment but you?"
