Wendy lay in her little bed, Zoe slept on the big bed, and Yuzo Joel was nowhere to be found.
The other side of the bed looked clean and tidy, as if no one had slept there. Mario Yuno went to the bathroom, but found nothing.
He opened the closet to check, and Yuzo Joel's luggage hadn't been touched. So when exactly had he left?
"Uncle, what are you looking for?" Zoe asked, rubbing her eyes as she woke up.
"Where's Grandpa Joel?" Mario Yuno asked.
"He was here when I went to sleep."
The children went to bed early, so Mario Yuno estimated that Yuzo Joel must have left while he was getting Kiara to fall asleep.
Mario Yuno tried dialing Yuzo Joel's phone, but it was turned off.
He then called Edward Farmbright, who was currently at the airport. He had just finished up overseas and hadn't returned yet. Upon hearing Mario Yuno's inquiry, he too was puzzled.
The old man hadn't contacted him.
