Chapter 13 - Landing A Hit

Will stood prepared, his senses now heightened. The system didn't state how I landed the hit, right?

At his side, he could feel imminent danger heading his way. He slides across the floor, avoiding it. A yellow energy moved past his side before disappearing.

'That was close. What was that?' This time around, he could feel it coming at all sides. Rasing his hands, walls of flame materialized protecting him. Kicking off the ground, he swung his legs, releasing arc of flames around the room.

'Where the fuck did he go! ' He strained his senses to the limit trying to pinpoint his location.

[ 369/650ep ]

Looking at his side, he saw a fist coming towards him at insane speed. He crossed his hands taking the blow directly. He was flung backwards, his body skidding through the floor.

[ -10hp ]

Will stood up spitting out blood. Once again Ash had disappeared into thin air. Will curled his body into a ball and breathed in before slowly exhaling, flames wrap round his body surging wildly. Opening his eyes, he stretched his body releasing a tsunami of flames. The flame spread through the room covering everywhere.

"Not bad."

He heard a whisper in his ears. He was already too late as he was struck hard on his back sending him forwards, Ash appeared right at his front and swung his legs, slamming him to the ground.

[ -20hp ]

Shit! Shit! Will struggled up, his right hand bent to an odd angle.

[ Healing has commenced ]

His hand slowly healed as he shook his head. Demon! He muttered as he readied himself. He realised his energy had gone down badly and needed to complete the quest quickly.

[ 241/660 ]

He kept his sword and raised his hands towards his face. He felt movement in the wind and swung his hand, flame wrapped round his fist as he struck the empty air. A loud bang occurred with the flames moving forward.

'Distribute all stat points to Agility,' he mentally stated.

[ Agility 18 (20) ]

He could feel a slight sensation as his body felt lighter. He charged forward as Ash had finally materialized at the center of the room. He leaped up and swung his fist down. Flames trailed down as his legs landed on the floor boards. The Flame erupted from his leg spreading outward.

Each swing of his fist and leg was easily evaded by Ash as he weaved across the room. Ash moved backwards as he prepared for his next attack. Will shot forward but stumbled across losing his footing. Ash immediately dashed forward and swung his fist aiming to hit him across the face.

Will couldn't hide the grin on his face as he dodged the punch appearing at his back instantly. Stomping on the ground he swing his fist which moved faster than before. As Ash tried to evade the attack, flames burst through from Will's elbow increasing the speed of the attack.

The fist had landed right on his chest, with flames erupting from the attack. Will stood proudly his grin nearly reaching his ears, he had been able to achieve this due to the new skill he unlocked when he increased his agility.

[ Dash lvl 1: Increases host speed twice his stat for 30secs ]

[ 50 energy points to activate ]

He had been able to pull it off due to his sudden boost in speed catching Ash off guard. He stood momentarily relishing the moment. He looked up only for his smile to suddenly turn to shock as he saw Ash still standing at the same position with a frown on his face. He looked towards Will before disappearing from his view. Looking up, Will saw a leg heading straight at his face.

The leg was too fast for him to react even with his boosted speed. He braced himself as the kick connected on the top of his head. He fell down with a thud on the floor his eyes rolling to the back of his head.

Will woke up on his bed with a throbbing headache. Arghh, he grunted as he settled himself on the edge of the bed. 'That guy is a monster,' he thought to as he called out the system through his mind.

[ Quest completed: prove yourself by landing a hit on your master ]

[ Rewards: yellow spatial card 1×, free stats points 3×, Heaven defying technique( basic level ) ]

[ Yellow spatial card and the heaven defying sword technique has been stored in your inventory ]

"Whoa," Will exclaimed as he read through the notifications. His eyes twinkling in excitement. Activating his enhanced sense, he made sure no one was nearby. He quickly summoned out the spatial card from the system. A soft glow brightened the dark room before fading off. At its place was a little card of about 5cm by 10cm.

Analyse, he muttered as he awaited the information.

[ Yellow spatial card: When activated host can use the card to travel to another dimension where he shall receive a quest. Completing the quest would grant host special rewards by the system ]

"It's this the only type of card that I can get or there are more of it?" he asked.

[ There are more card with yellow being the lowest rank. The cards are: Yellow card, blue card, purple card and red card ]

"What about the heaven defying sword technique?"

[ The Heaven defying sword technique is a skill created by .... ]

[ System error! Host level isn't high enough to get such information ]

Will let out a sigh before asking the question in his mind. "How can I learn the skill?"

[ The skill can be learnt manually by host or can be ingrained into host memory ]

"Nice!" He said rubbing his palms together.

[ Host has to pay a fee of 5 golden coins in order for skill to be ingrained into host memory ]

Fuuuu! Will nearly choked in his spit as he sat upright. What the heck is that?! he asked out loud with a vein throbbing on the side of his head.

[ The golden coin is what is used for exchange between host and the system. It can also be used to buy stuff from the store after it has been unlocked by host ]

Will fell back on his bed, trying to quell his rage. "How do I get this coin?"

[ Coin can be awarded to host whenever he completes a quest. Drop rate: 70:30 ]

"Why haven't I gotten any coin??" He couldn't help but ask. He got no reply from the system further increasing his rage.

"Shitty system," he cursed. After going through he finally stood up from the bed, looking at a chair beside the bed he saw an old scroll and a strange pill with a katana blade placed on the chair close to his bed.

The golden hilt of the blade matched the white and golden strips of the sheath. He knew this could only come from one pesron. His grandpa, Ash. He picked up the scroll and opened it, written boldly on it, 'Basic steps in awakening qi.'

"...."

The scroll was quite old and was covered in dust. He picked up a little paper and read it with a frown on his face.

'This will help you awaken your qi - the energy attack I used against you two days ago during our training session. The katana his an higher grade beast weapon, handle it with care.'

He couldn't help but sigh reading through the letter. He was quite shocked he was out for 2 days. 'Just how strong is that guy?'

Walking towards the bathroom he quickly had a shower and donned a new cloth from his collection of clothes. He tied his hair in a bun, leaving the rest to fall.

He walked out of the room into the spacious hall, he had noticed his things had been moved to a new room. The room he stepped out from wasn't the same with the one he was given when he first came.

He couldn't help shrug his shoulders as he walked down the hall. His eyes narrowed as he saw his cousins walking towards him. They Looked at him with eyes filled with disgust before walking through. Will sighed as he continued down.

His grandpa had five males including his father. They all lived in the family house. Each son had married having two to three children, mainly boys. Eldrad was an exception as he had only Will and a young daughter.

He had been the scorn of the family when they found out about Will's illness. Being the eldest son, he was expected to take over as the head of the family. But having a weak heir had turned things around. Everything changed as they were treated badly, given the worst floor to stay. Not only that, his father had always ignored him right from time.

The family building was divided into two: the outer and inner building. The inner building was meant for the main members of the family while the outer was for unimportant members.

Will and his family had always lived in the outer building. He was quite surprised to see himself in one of the rooms in the inner building.

Will walk through the second floor before stopping at the front of a door which was opened. He had a surprised look and walked into the room.

"Will! You're finally awake." Laura said, pulling him in. She closed the door before moving towards the bed in the room.

"Do you feel any pain?" she asked, staring at him.

"I'm fine, mom." Will said, looking at the room. The room was filled with Laura's stuffs and there at the middle of the room was a big box containing some of her stuffs yet to be arranged in place.

"What's going on, mom? Is he finally accepting us back?" Will asked.

"He was quite pleased after your little spar. What happened between you two? The next day, some guards came and moved our things to the inner building."

"I have a strange feeling about this," Will said with a sigh.

The door was pushed open as Eldrad walked into the room. His face held no emotions as he stared at Will.

"You've been called by Master." Will face scrunched up hearing the message.

"I'll be back, mom." He said, rubbing her hands before following Eldrad.

Will clenched his fist as he followed his dad down the wall. 'What did I do to you two to deserve this?!' He thought. His own father had always given him cold shoulders right from time. The only comfort he had was from his mom and his little sister.

Eldrad knocked on the door before entering. Will took a deep breath and followed through. The room was dark as all the lights had been off. The dark room was lit up by some red candles at the centre of the room.

Ash sat crossed leg within the candles. "Leave us!" He said to Eldrad. Eldrad walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
