Major Victor Grepov was venting his frustration at a map on the stump of a barren tree, while behind him stood a group of captains bickering like a flock of crows. Further in the distance, a group of soldiers were building fires to dry their mud-soaked military coats.
The infantry battalion led by Major Grepov had been plagued with trouble ever since crossing the border. Barely moments after arriving, the advance unit discovered landmines planted along the road. The Major immediately requested engineers for mine clearance, but the reply he received was infuriating: multiple infantry battalions had reported finding mines, all of them waiting for engineers.
When the Major heard the news, he nearly choked with rage. Where on earth did these Lapland forces get so many landmines? Could they harvest landmines like crops from their fields? Or perhaps foreign arms dealers had simply moved their warehouses directly to Lapland?
