"Of course I remember. You were so annoying back then—you insisted on dragging me home before the wedding was even over."
She distinctly remembered him, his dark expression as if the entire world owed him something, grabbing her arm to take her home, scaring her half to death.
Ryan Gregory curved his lips into a smile. "Back then, I was dying to know what's inside that head of yours."
"You're saying I'm stupid, aren't you?"
"Not exactly sharp."
He spoke in circles, but Sofia Hamilton didn't catch the nuance right away. She nodded, then frowned a second later. "Wait, that still means you're saying I'm stupid."
Ryan laughed as he pulled her into an embrace. "I just like you this way."
"Simple and easy to tease."
If she wasn't so straightforward and innocent, he wouldn't have taken a second look at her—she'd simply be another decoration in the house.
Stupid wasn't exactly a flattering word, but hearing it from him filled her heart with sweetness.
