Watched as the convoy disappeared from sight.

He stood quietly, gazing into the distance. Their home was well-situated high atop a small hill, offering expansive views. Unlike the old dirt roads, the cement highways now wound their way through the mountains.
"How wonderful."
A long pause.
Two words escaped Wei Jun's lips.
"What's so wonderful?" his wife asked curiously.
Wei Jun smiled and held his wife's hand, saying, "This scenery, these things, and the people." He had actually wanted to say that simply being alive felt wonderful, and that having older family members who cared for him felt wonderful too, but the words morphed as they left his mouth.

"Let's head back. Next month, we'll go to Delin Province for a trip too," Wei Jun said as he guided his wife toward their house.
