In the deserted town, Gu Fan and Li Shi looked out at the fierce wind and heavy rain, sighing to themselves about when this extreme weather would finally stop. It was far too unfavorable for them.
Suddenly, beams of light lit up in the distance—bright enough that neither the distance nor the darkness could hide their glow. Judging by the way the beams swung, they were unmistakably searchlights.
Gu Fan guessed that the rescue team had set up some searchlights. But why would they do such a thing? It didn't seem necessary.
Typically, rescue teams use searchlights when their vision is obstructed during a rescue—like when someone falls into a deep, dark canyon crevice, they would use searchlights to locate them.
The issue was that Gu Fan and the others who needed rescue were far too distant from the rescue team, and the searchlights wouldn't reach them. So, what were they searching for?
Gu Fan couldn't figure it out, and neither could anyone else.
