Uh, although he had only recently arrived in the Desolate Mountain Area, he had gathered from conversations with Triss and Lady Veylanth that the Goat Men of Baphomet Canyon rarely did anything good. They would pillage other races scattered across this land and kidnap unfortunate souls to sacrifice them in the Underground Palace to their Evil God.
The Vampire Lord, upon entering the Underground Palace earlier, had sensed the presence of numerous pitiable individuals within the maze.
These poor souls, abandoned by the Goat Men in the upper levels of the maze, were rendered groggy and zombie-like while being forced to fight wandering Goat Men thugs and dangerous beasts within the maze. Their suffering and despair were offerings to the Evil God.
This had already become a "hidden tradition" of Baphomet Canyon.
