I awake to an ugly toy bird figurine shoved into my face like smelling salts. It is a terrible way to start the day.
"Look! Look! It's Lucasy! Birdy!" May shouts.
"I see that." I groan and sit up. "It's...very early."
May wiggles in place, holding the ugly bird out to me like it's some sort of idol or something. "It. Is! Morning! Time to. Be. Up!"

And how did they do it overnight?
I sigh and pat her on the head. "What's up, May?"
