The mythical creature was wreathed in immortal flames, its wings trailing embers that sang as they fell.
It did not speak as men do.
Instead… it sang.
A single, unending note, mournful and eternal, as if the soul of the world itself cried out.
The song reached Seradin in the final moments of life.
It did not scorch him.
It did not heal him.
It changed him.
