Webb nodded slowly. "Of course. Twenty five percent gives you significant voting power. If we also add Mr. Isaac Rossi's ten percent and the board's own forty percent…"
I could feel the walls closing in. The careful plans I had made, the favors I was ready to call in, the allies I thought I had – none of it mattered now. Imogen had just changed the entire game.
"The motion is to install Isaac Rossi as temporary CEO while Mr. Elijah Rossi takes a leave of absence," Webb said, his voice gaining strength as he realized which way the wind was blowing. "All in favor?"
The hands started going up again. Webb, Morton, Harrison, all the others. Then Imogen raised her hand, that same serene smile never leaving her face.
"I vote in favor of Isaac Rossi as interim CEO," she said.
The words echoed in my head like gunshots. She wasn't just voting against me. She was voting for Isaac specifically.
