Aurelie had her head down as the lift dinged and the doors slid open. She was looking at her phone, going through the messages that Sharon had given her. Someone had offered her a gig where she would showcase a line of makeup. She liked the brand—had half her makeup collection from them as it was. But she needed to make sure the contract was in her favour.
She heard "morning" and looked up. She gasped as she saw that Nicolas was slumped against his door, looking a little green.
Had he been drinking again? She hoped he wasn't showing her a habit she didn't know about. Him being an alcoholic would be… more complicated.
"Are you okay?" she asked as she got closer.
He looked up at her, his bloodshot eyes squinting against the light.
"I'm fine," he said. "Just a little dizzy."
She thought about minding her own business and going to her flat but reconsidered.
"Have you eaten anything?" she asked.
She needed to get close to him.
