"You're here?" Zuo Aiai asked excitedly.
Ji Nanfeng gave a gentle smile and nodded: "I'm here!"
After the initial excitement flashed by, Zuo Aiai remembered the insurmountable barriers between them and felt a wave of sadness, slowly lowering her head.
Ji Nanfeng also felt a deep pain in his heart. Thinking of the hurt she had endured made his heart ache unbearably.
He took a deep breath to steady his emotions, then slowly closed and locked the door.
He turned and walked towards her.
She sat in her chair without moving, not standing up to greet him, nor looking up at him, just bowing her head.
In truth, she didn't know what she should do.
Her heart was tangled and complex.
For a moment, she felt she should give up, because it was too hard, too exhausting.
Then again, she thought, such love between two people, to give up just like that, in the future, she feared it would be even more painful.
