Under the benevolent gaze, Friday moved cautiously like a toddler learning to walk, stepping forward to stand before Marvin. Its eyes darted around, occasionally glancing at Baji and Odin flanking either side.
"You... need something?"
"I've heard about your situation."
Friday's pupils contracted. Before it could respond, Marvin continued, "You've done well these past years, faithfully carrying out the tasks of the Kitty Corps and earning many achievements. You deserve a reward."
Hearing this, Friday's tension finally eased a little.
"I see you've got at least some conscience. Fine, tell me—what treasure are you giving me?"
"Don't rush, don't rush, I'm not done yet."
Clearing his throat, Marvin cheerfully brought out a tin of canned food, opened it, and pushed it toward Friday. "Try it. This is a new formula developed by the Church, carefully selected by Little Black."
