"How can there be such a man in this world?"
Han Xue was momentarily stunned; she had never before encountered someone so unique. To talk about his looks, indeed, he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. However, what attracted her most wasn't his appearance but rather that special feeling. For a moment, Han Xue couldn't quite describe it—the man standing before her always gave off an aura that seemed detached from the world, as if he was already in isolation from it.
It was as if... if someone took a photo of Xu Ran right now, one would think the picture was Photoshopped. This tainted world could no longer accommodate such a great Buddhist statue like Xu Ran.
"Could it be that she's infatuated?" Xu Ran was also feeling a bit proud in the moment. He was quite satisfied with his own appearance. He had never felt that a man needs to be excessively handsome, but being a bit more handsome wouldn't hurt, would it? And Xu Ran didn't need any makeup or skincare; there were no issues like having a 'good side' or 'bad angle' for him.
Many so-called beauties are all about the right angle; if you look at them from any other perspective, they lose their appeal.
Moreso, the backside-killer is really obvious. From behind, those long legs, that perky behind, the not-too-bulky back and waist paired with silky long hair. Just about any woman who dresses up seriously, who seriously maintains her figure, could achieve this effect—a total backside-killer.
And then there's the faction who focuses on side profiles, the ones who only look at the lower body, those who can look good wearing a mask, and so on; the list is endless.
But Xu Ran was perfect from any angle.
"You're the one who's smitten, you, you, you..."
Han Xue, like a lioness provoked, leapt up from the ground in an instant, glaring furiously at Xu Ran.
Ahhh!
How infuriating!
What kind of person is this!
How could she possibly be infatuated? For years, it's been men who adored her; when has she ever acted so frivolously?
Besides, the men she liked were not judged by their looks, but by their high moral character, their strength, and of course, whether she liked them. If she didn't have any feelings for someone, no matter how great they were, she wouldn't be interested.
"Even if I, Han Xue, were to like someone, it wouldn't be you. So rest assured, I will not be smitten with you," Han Xue pouted. Just thinking about being mistaken for a silly, lovestruck woman made her endlessly frustrated.
It was downright infuriating. It's one thing for her not to be that type of woman, but even if there were someone who was infatuated, it's just wrong to call them out in front of others.
Such a man with no charm.
"Angry? Falling for this young master isn't something to be embarrassed about. Many people in the world fancy this young master," Xu Ran said with self-admiration. Although he admitted to being a little narcissistic, it was also a fact. Without looking too far, the number of girls from Canaan Academy who wished to share his bed could form an enhanced squad.
"Narcissist."
Han Xue couldn't help but lift her shapely leg and gently kicked Xu Ran.
The usually quiet and composed girl making such a gesture showed just how infuriated she was.
However, she didn't think Xu Ran was narcissistic; being a woman herself, she knew all too well the attraction that his face held for women. A normal woman would find it somewhat appealing, wouldn't she? It cannot be denied; this is a world that judges by appearance. Good-looking people find it easier to be favored. The unattractive ones, even if they try hard to please others, will not be cared for.
"Do you have the strength to match? Among these people, there are three Douhuangs and one at the Dou Wang Summit."
Han Xue said anxiously as she pointed towards Hong Chen and his group.
It was only then that she remembered the predicament she was currently in. She was actually wasting time chit-chatting with Xu Ran, and it even felt a bit like they were flirting.
"I can't beat them," Xu Ran shook his head.
"Then what are you doing here?" Han Xue looked at Xu Ran as if he were a fool. She had thought a real hero had come to save them, but it turned out to be a fool. The blow was too much for Han Xue to bear; her beautiful legs went weak, and she stepped back twice, glaring at Xu Ran with anger.
"If I hadn't come, wouldn't you be in danger?" Xu Ran answered earnestly.
"So what? You still can't save me!" Han Xue was frustrated, almost as if she were upset with iron not becoming steel. Was there anyone in the world so foolish as to mix in where they couldn't help, to court death? For a moment, her feelings were a mixed bag. She didn't know whether to scold the person before her or what. After all, it was because of her that he had fallen into such danger.
"To die with you, of course. Wouldn't being a pair of desperate lovebirds be nice?" Xu Ran smiled candidly, truly seeming as if he was ready to give up his life. However, in reality, even if someone stood still and tried to stab him with a gun, they wouldn't be able to penetrate his body.
"You idiot. We're not even close," At this moment, Han Xue felt her heart almost melt. Even though she thought this man was foolish, she was deeply touched. Which woman doesn't wish to have such a silly man by her side? A man willing to give everything up, even his life, for her—who could bear to blame him?
"Have you ever heard of 'love at first sight'?" Xu Ran looked affectionately at the stunningly beautiful girl before him. Suddenly, he felt he'd gone too deep into his role and was about to slip up. What if Han Xue found out he was deceiving her? He had only intended to tease this innocent girl, never expecting she would actually believe his words. Under such circumstances, how could he ruin the moment? He had to keep playing along. Xu Ran felt bitter inside; he thought Han Xue would be very angry later.
"Love at first sight?" Han Xue muttered these words, feeling as though she had experienced the changing of the seasons, the transformation of seas into mulberry fields, especially when she stared into Xu Ran's eyes.
Would the man before her deceive her?
If someone was willing to give up their own life just to deceive her, she would accept it.
Never before had she considered that the kind of events that occurred only in fairy tales could actually happen in the real world. Yet now, she had met that person.
"With you here, I'm not afraid of dying," Han Xue suddenly said emotionally, her slender eyes brimming with deep affection as she gazed at Xu Ran. Girls from another world are just too naive; they have no idea what a ploy is.
"Pfft. Is this your Han Family's rescue? Ha ha ha, I really thought some expert had come to your aid," said someone mockingly.
The already tense Hong Family Elders all breathed a sigh of relief at the same time. How strong could he possibly be at such a young age? At most, he would only be on par with Hong Chen. Jealousy coursed wildly through Hong Chen as he watched Xu Ran making subtle moves with Han Xue.
Ever since he had known Han Xue, he had never seen this side of her.
As a noblewoman, Han Xue's every move was elegance personified; when had she ever been like she was now? Yet this unrestrained side of Han Xue, revealing her innate cuteness, made Hong Chen even more enamored with her.
