Hundreds of ships waited out on the sea watching the riders and Dane's men engaged in combat, there was really nothing they could do as they watched over the cargo they brought and waited for the conflict to be resolved. Any ship that was armed tried to give cover with their ballista, but with the amount of them docked around the island, it was hard to get the riders in range.
As they waited, the sea behind them began to spiral slowly as a little whirlpool emerged. The whirlpool began to grow at an alarming rate catching the attention of a hunter. It soon became a massive vortex, pulling some of their ships back.
"Captain! We got a problem!" he alerted his superior.
More and more men began looking at the vortex in the sea. They were full of wonder and their eyes couldn't move from the sight. Out of the depths, the Queen emerged, her size dwarfing the ships ahead of her.
"OH MY GOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!" a hunter screamed at the top of his lungs.
"What the hell is that?!!" one shouted.
"It's a Bewielderbeast!!" cried another.
The commotion at sea got the attention of those on land as the fighting took a temporary pause as they witnessed the power of their trump card.
"Is that what I think it is?" Sander said in awe.
"It is" Forde replied him with a smirk.
"My comrades, allow me to introduce to you the latest dragon to join our ranks. The commander of ice, the Queen of Dragons herself, the mighty Bewielderbeast"
The Queen gave a long thunderous roar announcing her presence on the battlefield. From the clouds, a brown dragon descended with his rider on his back. They flew level with the Queen charging forward towards the ships in front of them.
"ATTAAAACK!!" he screamed, pointing at the frightened hunters below.
The Queen wasted no time following his lead. She took a deep breath as her lungs expanded to an incredible size; she exhaled sharply as a wave of ice was sent towards the ships turning them to splinters. Dane observed all this from his quarters, the rebels had managed to get the Queen on their side and now laid waste to his fleet.
"Alert all the flyers. They should disengage from fighting those Rebels and focus their strength on the King. NOW!" he commanded.
"Y-Y-Yes sir" his subordinate said frightfully.
He instructed men to sound the horns and tell the flyers to go after the Queen. They complied quickly as horns began to sound one after another within the camp. The flyers understood the message and disembarked from fighting the riders and began flying towards the Queen.
"Where are they going?" Thyra asked.
"Could they be retreating?" asked a Berserker.
"No, they're going after the Queen" said Thora.
"We have to stop them" Dagur said.
"Wait!" Heather said stopping anyone from moving. "There are dragons on those ships. They need to be freed and Rune can't do it alone. Let's not forget, Dane is still needs to be dealt with"
"You're right" said Dagur. "The two teams should focus on the safety of the Queen and the freedom of those dragons. Heather, Thora, you two come with me. It's time we put an end to Dane and all this madness"
Heather and Thora nodded as they reach received their tasks. Without a moment to lose, they broke into two again. Sander and Bjorn assumed command of the large group as they broke apart. Sander was in charge of freeing dragons alongside the rest of the fliers including Thyra, Forde, and Virgil while Vyra, Bjorn and three other Berserkers were tasked with keeping Dane's men and ballista's at bay.
Sten had finally made it to Eruptor but his dragon was still recovering from the crash and he was in no better condition. His right shoulder had been dislocated, making the smallest of motions with his hand incredibly painful.
"Dang it! Right when it was getting good" he said angrily. He kicked a barrel into a wall expressing his frustration.
Eruptor cooed, trying to offer some sort of comfort.
"We'll get out time to shine, I just know it"
From the busted wall before them, Eruptor and Sten watched as Dagur, Heather and Thora flew towards Dane's quarters. Sten put two and two together and understood their plan; they were going to take the hunter down once and for all. This could just be the opportunity Sten was looking for. He turned his head as he looked at Eruptor, his dragon staring right back at him as they exchanged thoughts. Sten nodded and began running after the Berserker trio with Eruptor keeping up with him on the ground.
Down by the sea, a brown blur flew past ships before unleashing a mighty blast at the main sail mast of a ship. The mast got blasted to splinters as it fell onto the deck of another ship. The duo then spiraled up into the air as the dragon opened his wings for air to push down on him as they dived down for another round. Their target this time was a ballista, taking aim at the riders protecting the Queen. Sandstorm gained speed rapidly as they closed down on the weapon, with a powerful blast from the dragon's mouth; the ballista was knocked over to its side.
"Wooooooooooo…!" Rune yelled.
Sandstorm performed a corkscrew as they rose above the arrows shot at them.
"Yeah baby!" Rune said patting his dragon's head.
He looked over the battlefield, watching as Vikings worked hand in hand for the better of both races. Teamwork and cooperation of this level was a wonderful sight to see, Rune couldn't help but smile.
"Ain't this beautiful"
Sandstorm rumbled, agreeing with his rider.
He would then spot two hunters trying to sneak up on Thyra as she opened up a cage.
"Let's go get em" he said smirking.
Sandstorm gave a joyous roar as he flew down to reign terror upon his enemies.
Dane's men closed in on the Queen in large numbers with the riders set out to defend her being outnumbered ten to one. The odds were not looking good.
"This doesn't look good" Vyra said with a worried voice.
"No matter their numbers, we were given a task to defend her and we will stop at nothing to see that no harm comes to the King" Bjorn said, his tone resolute.
Death was a part of the bargain, something he had come to terms with and if today was the day he gets called home, so be it. The hunters drew closer with their dragons as they sought to swarm the riders and the Queen in one fell swoop.
"Prepare for combat!!" Bjorn declared, holding his sword firm.
The Queen unleashed another blast of ice as she turned another set of boats into toothpicks before she noticed the swarm charging towards her. She let out a grunt as her pupils became thin using her status as alpha over the enemy dragons. All the dragons in the swarm stopped their approach in unison causing confusion among the riders.
"What's going on?" a Berserker asked.
Vyra had seen this before, back on Berk when Drago attacked. She glanced over her shoulder to look at the Queen and her guess was spot on.
"It's the Queen. She's using her status as Alpha to control the dragons" she explained.
The swarm of dragons received their commands and immediately turned on their riders as each dragon helped one another out, throwing, blasting and pushing men off their backs.
"Then I guess the Queen can take care of herself" Bjorn concluded. "Let's go help the others free some dragons. Hyaa!" he said spurring his dragon on.
Virgil used a hammer to break the lock on a cage as he freed a Stromcutter from its incarceration. He threw the hammer at Forde who caught it and hit a hunter right in the face. Spikethorn then used her tail to send four hunters into the cold waters. Hothead used his magma blast on the mast of the ship eating into the wood and causing it to fall.
"All the cages on the ship have been cleared" Virgil reported.
"We're right on schedule" Forde answered.
A blast would go off behind them as Vyra flew over. She had blasted a trapper into the ocean as he aimed his spear at Forde.
"Keep your eyes open boys" her voice echoed.
"Pft" Virgil remarked.
"Let's keep on going"
Virgil nodded as the two set off to another ship to free more dragons.
Amidst the chaos, Dagur, Heather and Thora had started their charge into Dane's quarters, taking on the guards that manned the walls to his compound. Sleuther and Windshear blasted down the main entrance as the humans and Thora's Singetail rushed in. Weapons clanged in the compound and shots were fired down below alerting Dane of their presence.
"Those rebels" said Dane with an enraged tone.
He picked up his two axes and was ready to fight Dagur and co as they charged towards his quarters.
"S-S-Sir. Might I suggest a tactical retreat?" said his advisor with a shaky voice.
Dane gave him a death stare as he removed his fur cape and prepared for battle.
"If you want to run, you can leave but when I get out of this. I will find you and kill you" he said with a menacing voice.
The advisor quaked in his boots as urine had been visibly passed on his pants. The men in the room laughed at him as they also fortified themselves for battle. The advisor took his chances and ran out of the building fearfully. Dane signaled to one of his men with a nod with the trapper understanding what his leader meant. He took a spear from the set of weapons laid out on the table before them and threw it at the advisor as he ran down the hallway. You don't want to know how that looked.
Dagur parried a strike as his sword struck down another man during his charge. He was out for vengeance; he was going to make Dane pay for what he had put his people through, for what he had done to their homes and their land.
"Come on!" said Dagur as he ran into the main building.
Heather and Thora ran after him as they made it into the building and there they met Dane. He was seated on a chair in a dark room with a cocky grin on his face, alone with both his axes placed into the ground before him.
"At last, the chief rears up his head. Come to face me like a man haven't you" he said before Heather and Thora ran into the room. "Still not man enough to face me on your own?" he said with a chuckle.
"Don't listen to him brother" Heather said as Dagur became visibly angry.
"You're going to pay for what you've done to my village. For the homes destroyed, for the lives you have taken. Today will be your end" he said with a stern voice.
Dane rose to his feet as he grabbed both axes from the ground as he prepared for combat.
"Come, chief of the Berserker tribe and show me your resolve" the man-beast said.
"With pleasure"
As soon as Dagur took one step forward men hidden in the room would burst out from the sides to engage Heather and Thora.
"Heather" Dagur called out as his sister began to fight.
"Go on Dagur. We'll be fine"
Dagur nodded and returned his attention to the threat in front of him. He charged to wards Dane as the two clashed weapons; Dagur barely able to hold back the force of his swing. Dane pushed him back and took a mighty swing at his head, the chief rolled to the side as the axe just missed his head by a couple inches. He parried his next strike and then swung for his neck, missing it by some centimeters as he trimmed a part of his beard. Their intentions were, both were going for the kill in this battle.
Dagur rolled under the table as Dane's axe came crashing down, chopping the table in half with his might. The chief picked up a chair and threw it at the brute as a distraction so he could close in for the kill. Dane destroyed the chair with a swing from his axe as his eyes spotted the movement of Dagur. He sidestepped, avoiding his swinging sword and grabbed him by his wrist and swinging him into one the halves of the destroyed table causing it to crumble.
"Weak!"
Dagur gathered his strength and got back on his feet as his reflexes were quickly called into action as he blocked another monstrous strike from the Viking. He took a couple steps back, breathing heavily as he began to feel the effects of blocking such powerful strikes.
"Tired already?" he mocked.
"I'm just getting started"
Dagur charged in once again with renewed strength as he went on the offensive. The power of his strikes had increased to Dane's surprise. Their battle continued with Dane still able to keep the chief at bay. The two moved out of the room and into the hallway with Dane managing to throw Dagur into a wall and making a run for it. The big man was surprisingly fast despite his size. He used a network of secret pathways to make it out of the building and into the streets below.
"The fight is not over Dagur. I will have my revenge upon you and your band of riders. Mark my words" he said gritting his teeth.
He took a right turn through a row of buildings but quickly stopped in his tracks when he heard a voice.
"Going somewhere?" the black silhouette asked under the cover of darkness.
The battle was over and done, the ships had been the destroyed and captured dragons had been liberated. The Queen gave a mighty roar signaling the end of the battle as the rest of the dragons joined in. A couple of the freed dragons decided to settle on the island while some chose to fly back to their old homes. The riders cheered alongside their scaly companions as Rune and Sandstorm flew in for a little chat with the Queen, to show their gratitude. The two flew in front of her as both Human and dragon bowed showing their appreciation.
The behemoth rumbled at them, blowing a small cloud of snow at them. Rune chuckled as he shook the snow off of his hair. Her baby also shot out of the water next to her, doing a backflip out of the water as he greeted sandstorm. Sandstorm snorted and did a loop of his own in the air as well. The mother and her child retreated to the depths as Rune flew back to regroup with the others.
The riders gathered in the center of the village with merry hearts, their home had been reclaimed and the battle had been won. What a wonderful day.
"We did it!!" Bjorn yelled as the rest of the Berserkers and Berkians began to cheer.
Rune and Sandstorm made it to the cheer fest and were a bit confused.
"What's going on here?" he asked cautiously.
"Just the merry hearts of Vikings being expressed after a long day of battle" Thyra answered him.
"Speaking of battles, where is Dagur, Heather and Thora? He asked again.
"We haven't seen them since they went after Dane" Sander answered.
Right on que, the three of them flew in with heavy looks on their faces.
"What happened?" Sander asked seeing their fallen countenance.
"Dane got away. We tried to chase him down but he was too quick and had secret pathways within the building" Dagur explained.
"Forgive us, we have let you all down" Thora said with a bow.
"You haven't failed us. I'm sure you gave it your all but we are still alive and breathing. Yes Dane managed to escape but as long as we're here, we will stop him. No matter what it takes" said Rune.
"That wouldn't be necessary" a voice said from the shadows.
A man and a dragon walked out from between two building with Dane knocked out, tied up and being held by the Monstrous Nightmare.
"Sten?!!" they collectively exclaimed.
"How did you?" Dagur asked.
"Well, while Eruptor and I were recovering from our crash, we saw you three flying towards his quarters. We put two and two together and figured out what you wanted to do and decided to loiter around to see if we would be of any help"
"Fast forward a couple minutes after you stormed the building, we came across dragon lord over here trying to make a run for it. It didn't go well for him" He narrated.
"I can see that" Virgil said spotting his black eye.
"Well then. I guess we can send Dane to Outcast Island where he can spend the rest of his days rotting in a cell" Dagur said with joy in his voice.
"Thank you. Rune, Vyra, Forde, Sten, Thyra. I am really grateful for your help in all this and even saving our man Virgil. You have our thanks and that of all of our tribe" said Dagur.
"It was an honor to fight by your side" Rune said with a smile.
"How about a feast tonight? I'm sure we can get some food from what those trappers left behind" Heather suggested.
"That is a great idea!" exclaimed Dagur. "A feast to solidify this special day in your honour. From today onwards let today be known as Heilagr Dagr Eining (translating loosely to: Day of Sacred Alliance or Sacred/Holy day of Unity in a literal sense). The day a few brave souls from Berserker Island and Berk came together in alliance to take down Dane and his growing army"
"Well said brother"
"Now let us begin the preparations!"
Even before any of them could move, they spotted a large groups of dragons heading their way from the horizon.
"What in Thor's name" Virgil said in shock.
"Can't we catch a break? We just finished one battle and now we have to go through another?" Sten sighed. They were all damn tired at this point.
They all drew their weapons once again and were ready for another colossal dragon fight when something unexpected happened. A familiar sound that they knew all too well graced their ears. The iconic sound of the wind whistling.
"Am I going insane or did you all hear that?" Vyra asked in confusion.
Rune's head was raised to the sky as the sound went past them again right as a black blur flew by.
"Oh you're not going insane. It's just who we think it is"
The black dragon and his rider adorned in armor made with the scales of his dragon landed in front of them as they all sheathed their weapons. The man got down from his dragon as they all looked at him with surprise.
"Hiccup? What are you doing here?" Dagur asked.
"Mala came to us and explained the situation. We rallied as many of our forces as we could as well as all the men and women of your village and flew straight here. But from the look of things" he said glancing at his runaway students. "It seems like you've got things sorted out. I really want to know how you did it" he said with a little smile on his face.
