Shane raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"Sounds like something out of a spy movie."
"More like a smart preemptive strike," James replied, folding his arms.
"Joint stocks usually turn messy, power struggles, boardroom coups, people getting greedy. This setup avoids all that by keeping the shareholders entirely in the dark about one another. No egos, no clashes."
He knew how the company operated because he had actually done research on one of the founders, and by research, he meant hacked into the man's life and monitored him constantly. The man was the reason Myra was attending the gala, so James needed to be sure they had no personal relationship.
Unlucky enough for the man, he seemed normal on the outside, a regular married guy with a lovely wife and two children, but in secret, he was a pervert.
