Chapter 74 - Chapter 70: Different Than He Appears

Beep—

Suddenly, the phone in the politician's hand was hung up.

This move took everyone in the room by surprise.

What just happened? Did something go wrong with the signal?

Angus interrupted his chaotic thoughts.

"How much do you want for compensation? I don't have the time to deal with you lot." Angus nonchalantly cast them a glance with his hand in his pocket, looking impatient and irritated.

"Ian, come here, we're leaving." Angus said to Ian and then turned to his man, "Deal with them."

"Wait!" With a sudden surge of strength, the politician rushed up and pulled Angus's arm, gripping it with a ferocious tenacity and power.

"You're not going anywhere until I get answers!" The politician said with clenched teeth and with a spirit of not admitting his fault until he sees his own coffin.

Angus coldly eyed the place where he was grabbed.

Ian's face also darkened.

Startled by the unexpected and quick action of the middle-aged man who looked like he hardly ever exercised, the bodyguard rushed forward immediately upon coming back to his senses and flung the politician away from his boss.

The bodyguard instantly stepped forward and wrapped his thick hand around the politician's thin forearm and clenched it tightly to the point of crushing the other's bones.

"Ahh!" The politician screamed from the pain. Due to the pain, his grip on Angus's arm unconsciously loosened.

In that moment of slack, the bodyguard promptly seized the opportunity and threw off the other's hand with a powerful force.

What a mistake! The man in a black suit's back broke out in prickling sweat. Thanks to this fool he'll be punished when he gets back!

The bodyguard glared fiercely at the politician who stumbled a little to stabilize himself.

In fact, the bodyguard's reaction time was very fast, it only took five seconds from the politician's action to Angus's cold glare to the bodyguard reacting and pushing the politician away.

After he was pushed away, the politician didn't try to attack Angus again.

Instead, he was more preoccupied with the call that was hung up.

Thinking that the signal probably went out and afraid of offending the chief of police who he needed for this matter, the politician impatiently dialed the latter's number again only for it to hang up right away.

—He was blocked!

The politician was shocked.

His heart thumped.

Unwilling to believe it, the politician borrowed a phone from Manl's father.

The call connected this time.

"Chief, what's going on here?! Who in the world is he?!" The politician urgently yelled into the phone, forgoing all composure.

"Don't you understand at this point that you've messed with someone you shouldn't have even looked at? With just your puny political career he can end in a snap. I don't understand how someone lacking in understanding and the ability to grasp the scene like you got into politics and even became successful," the chief of police said, his tone was annoyed and disrespectful. A stark contrast to the licking dog from before.

However, at the moment, the politician could no longer care for those things. His mind was in a mess.

"Just tell me! Just who is he for even you to be scared?! You're the head of the police department!" The politician hollered frantically, almost crazily, scaring the others.

Jitters shook through the bodies of the previously aggressive and arrogant family heads of either powerful or rich families.

Whether men or women, they were scared out of their wits now.

They stared intensely at the phone in the politician's hands, eager to know as well.

"Angus Everett. Everett! Have you no brains?! The chairman of the top conglomerate and business group, their main company Everett Touch, Inc. is famous worldwide!

"With just one word from him and all your funding would disappear! How do you plan on running to be the governor then?!

"He can have your entire family blockaded from all industries if he wanted to!!

"He can even out me from my post if he so desires!

"Now do you know who he is? Now do you realize what you have done?!

"I suggest you get your hospitalized son on his knees—broken or no—and kowtow to Chairman Everett's brother or else only God can help you!"

Click.

With that, the phone went silent as the chief of police once more cut off the line and blacklisted the politician.

The politician's lips moved, seeming to want to say something. However, no words came out even after a few minutes passed.

Suddenly, his lower lip trembled uncontrollably. Fear enshrouded his being as he gathered the courage to look at the dark eyes of Angus who had been watching the whole time.

Not a word did not enter his ears during the call, likewise, everyone else present also heard the entire process of the conversation.

Plop!

The politician suddenly fell onto his knees.

Not sure if his legs had given out or if he did it on purpose, after he fell to his knees, his entire body started trembling like a person with a seizure.

Thud!

Plop!

Bang!

After him, countless knees hit the hard floor of the educational institute like boneless jelly.

The principal gulped. Even though he had no part in this, he also felt the urge to kneel down in front of the emperor-like figure who exuded a low pressure.

No one dared doubt the authenticity of the young man's identity.

Although their status was too low to have seen Angus before at important events, they at least have heard of rumors about him.

At this moment, they finally matched their previous knowledge with the actual person.

"I-I didn't realize…" The politician trembling said with a stutter, his eyes hazy as though his soul had left his body. Then in the next second, he started banging his head on the floor. "Please forgive me! Please forgive me! I was blind! I was stupid! Please overlook my faults and the faults of my son with your gracious heart!"

"Please forgive us!"

"We had eyes but couldn't see!"

"Please let us little ones go just this once!"

"You're so powerful, you would definitely not care for weak entities like us, just treat this as being barked at by a dog and show mercy…"

Even the proud and vain Mrs. Gao lost all traces of her arrogance and self-confidence.

Who hasn't heard of the powerful chairman and owner of the Everett Touch group?! However, he never imagined in his wildest dreams that the chairman would be this young and handsome. Nor could he ever think that the only family the other had would be attending the same school as his son!

What a fool he was!

He should've known to investigate his target first!

Hearing that his son had been crippled to the point where he needed to be hospitalized for weeks and was nearly disabled by a freshman in the poor special class mistakenly made the furious politician and every other parent present assume without a second thought that it was impossible for the culprit to be anyone of worth.

Fast forward, they were gravely mistaken.

Not only was the special class student of so much worth that even if they only brushed past him they would go bankrupt from the damage fees and compensation of a mere touch, but the power, influence, and connections of the Everett would make sure their life is over!

Completely and utterly over.

"You should have thought about it before insulting my little brother."

And Angus's icy words with not a hint of room for them to make amends spelled their end.

Yet none of them dared to rise up to resist or stir up a spark of anger. They knew it would be futile.

'It's really over.' The politician thought as he looked up in a cowardly and shriveled up posture at Angus's expression that was as cold as ever. His expression was both ugly and empty.

His body slumped.

Similarly, the other parents also had ghastly expressions like their lives were over.

They shouldn't have messed with this man or his brother!

The infamous chairman of the Everett Group was famous for his overprotection of his one and only little brother and remaining family member. Everyone knew that even if they can mess with Angus, they can not mess with his brother.

But ironically, no one knew who his little brother was, what the other party looked like or anything, up until the night of the little brother's 16th birthday where a grand celebration was held and he was revealed at last to the world.

There was a lag of information, however, as none of the delinquent students' parents in this room were all that powerful enough to attend and since no photos were allowed to be taken, only descriptions of the appearance and temperament of Angus's little brother was spread around in the upper circles.

Clearly, none of the magnate parents remembered the unique appearance of Angus's little brother or even the names of the two brothers for that matter.

Their downfall was certain, and they deserved it.

With their brains, it's already a miracle that they have lasted this long in their respective circles with their lack of information and knowledge, as well as their inadequate care for powerful figures they can't afford to offend.

Their faces looked defeated. None of them dared to utter another word of plea, fearing that what awaited them then would not be something as simple and light as the destruction of their career and wealth.

"Come, Ian. Let's go," Angus said to Ian.

With a swift movement of his legs, Angus turned away, his long suit jacket vigorously cut through the air in a semicircle following his sharp movement.

Ian gently stood up from his seat and elegantly yet lightly nodded his head to bid goodbye to the principal and the parents wallowing in despair and deep regret.

Ian followed his brother out of the office and into the hallway.

The principal belatedly came back to his senses and remembered his manners. He hurriedly chased out after the Everett brothers' backs, leaving the decadent parents behind.

"Samuel!" The politician's voice full of hatred and anger for iron not becoming steel sounded out behind the principal's back as he called out his son's name.

His son waiting triumphantly for his father's good news in the hospital suddenly shivered.

"What was that?" Samuel, the delinquent who learned boxing, wondered to himself in doubt as he scratched the white gauze wrapped around his forehead.

"Hey, do you think that freshman punk is kneeling in disgrace and begging our parents to let him off with tears and snot on his face right now?" Manl snickered with his delinquent friends who were hospitalized in the same room as him.

Distracted, Samuel no longer thought about that weird feeling he got. He joined his friends in jeering and cursing out Ian and his family.

Not knowing that what awaited them soon was not the good news they were waiting for but the burning wrath of their infuriated and fearful parents.

The students of S High School watched with both curious and frightened eyes as Ian and his brother, along with numerous tough-looking men in black, walked through the hallway, passing by many classrooms.

Because the teachers' office doors were kept open during the confrontation of the two parties after Angus's domineering arrival, everyone in the hall heard what had gone down.

Most importantly, they all found out that Ian, their freshman year student representative and the top student in the special class, was actually from an extraordinary family background!

Recalling the rumors of the Everett Touch, Inc. having relations with the underworld and remembering Ian's cruelty today during lunch that sent all the upperclassmen to the hospital…

Everyone suddenly shivered.

Those who were close to the main characters passing through took a step back, whether consciously or unconsciously, doing their best to stay away. They fear for their lives. If any of their insignificant actions happen to tick the other party off…

Everyone suddenly was no longer curious about the gossip or what had happened, they all wanted to run into their respective classrooms and hide.

Both children of lower classes and higher classes unanimously agreed and decided to never offend Ian, nor interact with him. He was too dangerous to be around!

With how easily and lightly Ian's older brother put an end to others' career because they offended Ian, not one student had the courage to even look at Ian right now for fear of doing something that would displease Ian.

Seeing the fear in the avoidant eyes of his fellow schoolmates, Ian only gently and elegantly smiled at everyone his eyes met.

The ones who were swept over instinctively flinched, as though what met them were not a pair of gentle eyes but a piercing knife.

For a moment, a twisted violence and ruthless look appeared in Ian's eyes before it disappeared.

Ian turned his head away, looking forward as he entered the car with his brother and drove away under the eyes of the students and teachers of the school.

Their freshman year student representative this year had a personality far from the looks of his appearance.

Was what all the teachers and students belatedly realized.
