Chapter 6
Boashan Sanren Mountain was a mesmerizing blend of the strange and the fascinating. Beyond the Mangolia trees, vibrant trees of every color stretched towards the sky, creating a breathtaking landscape that seemed almost otherworldly. As they ascended higher, the group marveled at the scenery, their silence a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty around them.
After traversing several mountains, they finally caught sight of a picturesque like town, with buildings that seemed to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Boashan Sanren led the way, her silence unbroken, as the group followed closely behind. Everyone's eyes were glued to the sights around them, taking in the bustling activity of the town.
People of all ages - adults, children, and young adults - went about their duties, many engaged in rigorous training exercises. As they passed by, the place people bowed respectfully to Boashan Sanren, their faces filled with a mix of admiration and curiosity.
The group reciprocated with equal interest, exchanging gazes that spoke volumes without a single word being uttered.
After a long walk, they arrived at a large building, where Boashan led them inside.
The interior was spacious, with four straight beds and a toilet to the side. Boashan addressed Wei Ning, Sizhui, and Jingyi, "Take a bath and get ready in 30 minutes, lunch will be served." Then, she turned to Wei Ying and said, "You two, follow me."
She led them to a smaller room with a large bed, a tea table, and a toilet to the side. The room was exquisitely decorated. Boashan gazed at Wei Ying with her piercing dark silver eyes and instructed, "Take a bath and get ready before lunchtime." Wei Ying smiled, though he felt a bit apprehensive, sensing that Boashan was a no-nonsense woman. He recalled how Lan Zhan had instinctively prepared to defend him earlier, and his heart swelled with gratitude, realizing that Lan Zhan loved him deeply and would go to great lengths to protect him, even if it meant personal harm.
After Boashan Sanren left, Wei Ying turned to Lan Zhan and whispered, "Grandmother is intimidating, isn't she?"
Lan Zhan nodded, "Mn, she's a scary person, even to me."
Wei Ying smiled, "Yet you tried to fight for me despite being afraid." Lan Zhan's eyes filled with determination, "Wei Ying must be protected no matter what. I can't lose you again, not after what happened the first time.
" Wei Ying's heart fluttered as Lan Zhan's words sent shivers down his spine. He leaned in, his lips almost touching Lan Zhan's, his silver eyes shine "I love you so much, Lan Zhan. I can't live without you."
Lan Zhan's golden eyes sparkled as he wrapped his arms around Wei Ying, pulling him close, he kiss his temple. Wei Ying whined, "Lan Zhan, I really want a real kiss here, he push his lips forward.
"Lan Zhan chuckled, pecked Wei Ying's lips, and turned away, leaving Wei Ying to pout and stamp his foot.
"Lan Zhaaaan!" Wei Ying whined again, but Lan Zhan just smirked and continued to prepare the bathwater, ignoring Wei Ying's tantrums.
After waiting for 40 minutes, they sat down in a middle dining hall that could accommodate about ten people.
The food was arranged in a buffet style, with various spicy dishes that Wei Ying loved. Wei Ning didn't seem to have a problem with the food, but the others were struggling.
Sizhui and Jingyi were sweating profusely, fanning themselves with their hands, while Lan Zhan maintained his cold and straight face, eating his food with ease.
Wei Ying glanced at Grandmother Boashan, who was sitting nearby, he moved a little closer to her and whispered, "Grandma, the food is too spicy for the others, isn't it?"
She just smirked and didn't respond, and Wei Ying knew she already knew.
Wei Ying felt sympathy for the children, noticing they hadn't eaten much. After the meal, Boashan ordered the table to be cleared and instructed the children and Wei Ning to rest.
Then, she led Wei Ying and Lan Zhan to a grand hall filled with people. Boashan introduced them as her grandsons, and after exchanging greetings, she took them on a tour of the premises. Upon returning to their room, Wei Ying was already yawning, exhausted.
Lan Zhan scooped him up and laid him down on the bed, where Wei Ying snuggled into Lan Zhan's chest. Lan Zhan held him gently, kissing his forehead before they both drifted off to sleep.
The dinner was even more enjoyable with the addition of vegetable and herb soup, which the children devoured happily. Lan Zhan, however, opted for the same food as Wei Ying and the Grandmaster. After dinner, Wei Ning took the children outside for some fresh air, while Boashan led Lan Zhan and Wei Ying to a spacious living room with scattered cushions and two tea tables. Boashan sat at one table, while Lan Zhan poured tea for himself and Wei Ying at the other.
Wei Ying hesitated, gazing at his grandmother, who seemed lost in thought, sipping her tea. "Grandma!" Wei Ying called out, and she looked up, her piercing stare making him shrink back. He scratched his nose, and she curved her lips, continuing to sip her tea. "You can say what you want," she said finally.
Wei Ying's eyes lit up. "Grandma, earlier you said we met again, but...I don't remember meeting you before." Boashan poured another cup of tea and took a sip. Lan Zhan refilled his own cup, and this time Wei Ying accepted it, gulping it down quickly.
Lan Zhan promptly refilled it again. Boashan's expression turned solemn. "I met you and your parents in Yilling when you were 3 or 4 years old. It was a coincidence; I was on my way somewhere, and they were night hunting. That was the first time I saw you." Wei Ying's voice trembled as he asked, "When did you find out my parents were no more? And why didn't you find me all this time?" His eyes welled up with tears, and Lan Zhan comfortingly stroked his hand.
Boashan's face darkened, her heart aching as she recalled the pain of losing her daughter. "I knew about their fate two years later, and when I went to look for you, you were already in Yunmeng." She gazed at Wei Ying, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and longing. "Why didn't you look for me too, A'Ying? I believe your mother told you where I lived."
Wei Ying's feelings were a mix of shame and anger, his voice laced with a pout. "Yes, I knew where you lived, but I was upset with you for not looking for me." He leaned back, wanting to snuggle into Lan Zhan's chest, but Grandmother Boashan reprimanded him, "You two aren't married yet, so keep your hands to yourselves in my presence.
" Lan Zhan glared back, "The marriage will take place in 11 days, he said it." Boashan hid her smile, sipping another cup of tea.
The room fell silent for two minutes before Boashan spoke up, "Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to perform an Empathy with you, A'Ying, i want to understand what you went through."
Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan, who nodded in encouragement. Wei Ying stood up and sat closer to Boashan, holding hands with her. He turned to Lan Zhan, smiled, and whispered, "I love you." Boashan coughed, and Wei Ying laughed before they both closed their eyes, ready to share his emotions and experiences through the Empathic bond.
