But it was clear that the Shadow Gate's capacity was not infinite. Devouring twice in such rapid succession far exceeded its limits and Roger's own endurance.
Coupled with the spatial chaos caused by the temporary coordinate shift, his body and soul were nearly torn apart in an instant.
