Stepping out from the rift torn open in the void, the surrounding mist seemed to seep through his body. Before Roger could react, a lantern hanging before the Shadow Gate in the depths of his consciousness was suddenly lit.
Though the light was faint, it could steadily and persistently pierce through the mist, allowing Roger to see the broken bodies emerging from within.
To call them broken was not because they had suffered tremendous damage, but because those forms appeared to have grown out of the mist, or perhaps had parts deliberately severed.
What presented itself before Roger appeared undeniably incomplete.
From another direction, a faint pillar of light extended deep into the misty expanse, from which Roger could sense a familiar aura.
It was a resonance brought about by the body he currently occupied.
But at this moment, the passage for transportation was obstructed—an eye of chaos had disrupted the portal's stability.
