From Lancelot's pure observer perspective, the whole thing was extremely ironic: these people were caught for no reason, made to look like they were about to be killed as sacrifices, scared half to death mentally, and then told that 'God' loves them, that they won't die but will attain true immortality. As a result, after being tormented, the mortals instead became grateful to this 'God'. Lancelot just felt an indescribable oddness.
Thinking it over carefully, it's not just this Lich; many real deities seem to have had similar stories too, right?
