"Yanyan, today is the day we remove the bandages!"
Shen Xiaoman held up a small mirror in front of Xia Yanxin, smiling at her.
Xia Yanxin felt extremely anxious, as thoughts of the disfiguring burns suffered by someone in Bonivia resurfaced. She nervously swallowed and looked at the reflection of her face wrapped in bandages, feeling unsettled.
"Are you ready?" asked Shen Xiaoman.
"Hmm...okay!" Xia Yanxin's voice trembled as she took the mirror from Shen Xiaoman and closed her eyes.
She could feel Shen Xiaoman's hands weaving through her hair and the slight tickling sensation of the bandage peeling away from the skin as the smell of antiseptic filled the air.
After what seemed like ages, Shen Xiaoman hadn't made a sound, so an anxious Xia Yanxin asked, "Xiaoman, how does it look?"
"Yanyan... you should look for yourself!" Shen Xiaoman's voice was shaking.
