Madam Mastigia's office at New Heaven Orphanage

"11 years it has been since I took in that sneaky brat in how fast does the time pass." Madam Mastigia though savagely she was sitting in her office right now . It was early morning the sun was barely visible on the horizon casting a milky blue glow. It was the last week of summer vacation and she had woke up early from the nightmare about that horrible night Narcissa Malfoy had paid her a visit with that child.

11 years she had lived with dread. At first she had feared ever interaction with the child that she might end up breaking the vow which will be her death. But as the time passed she was able to understand the terms of her vow. She had been nice at first to the child taking care of her out of fear but then she had been able to find loopholes in the contract.

You see she had promised to keep her safe and healthy but she had never promised to pamper her to treat her with care or to love her as if that monstrous freak deserved any of that no she has been resentful , she had treated her worse than the rest on purpose. She had to do it see to prove that she was not on the dark side that she wasn't one of her followers.

As soon as she had figured out that she can be as bad to the child as she wanted to be she had sent her to the attic to live alone , she had refused to let her have the orphans clothes and uniforms, she had even gone as far as to stop providing for the child the gold Narcissa Malfoy had left her right after she had found out that Narcissa Malfoy was sick and was in a coma unable to talk or do anything to her Madam Mastigia.

The fate had favoured her because it was the right thing, the just thing to do to the child of Lord Voldemort. She was sure of this right after she found out that the werewolf Narcissa Malfoy had hired to keep checking on Delphini was caught by the Ministry of Magic and was rotting in Azkaban.

Oh God how she had feared that one day he will come to check on the child and will kill her for treating the child badly but he never came and so Mastigia was free to use the child's money for her self without giving her a single penny and being able to keep her promise just by providing the bare minimum.

She was so happy. She had gates so much wealth she had even been able to get her a decent position as the head of the orphanage and she had been able to afford luxurious items for her care and personal use. She looked around the office she now was sitting in filled with polished furniture , fancy rugs and curtains, tiny valuable trinkets and her collection of expensive wine. She was no longer the poor head nun she was 11 years ago who had to live on donations from church.

But she couldn't use her wealth to her fullest either for people would question where she got this wealth from. So she used some of it to make the Orphanage better but she kept the test hidden for when she will finally be able to get rid of the child and live her life freely.

That day when she no longer has to keep the vow was Delphini's 18 birthday but that was too far right now there was a bigger problem at hand. Delphini had just turned eleven this year which meant the letter from Hogwarts will derive soon and then there will most likely be a visit from one of the schools teachers.

What if they find out Delphi is the Dark Lord's daughter. Will the way Madam Mastigia treated her would be enough to prove that she has no regard for that child that she doesn't care what happens to her.

If she could she would stop Delphini from going to Hogwarts but she can't due to the unbreakable vow. She had hoped that Delphini was a squib like her mother but unfortunately for Mastigia that wasn't the case Delphini had shown early signs of powerful magic and even though Madam Mastigia had never seen her do magic with her own eyes. The weird things that kept happening around the child.

If a child loses a toy or his or her toy gets broken the next day, it will be fixed and back in their belongings, but they wouldn't know how it got fixed—only that, that little freak hhad taken that toy out of trash.

Then there were incidents where if any older child bullied the younger ones something bad , like their hair turning pink or their all toys disappearing would happen to them. Lastly, someone kept placing pennies under pillows in place of fallen teeth and small Christmas presents under beds even though Madam Mastigia had all the doors looked after dark and no child could get in or out, Yet it still happened despite all the measures Madam Mastigia had taken.

She had no proof that Delphini did it but that did not stop her from putting that little brat in her place. What did she thought doing things like this will somehow change who's daughter she was? Would it change the blood that flowed through her veins. These stupid little acts of kindness were nothing but her attempt to deceive everyone Madam Mastigia was sure of it. What was she trying to prove that she was better? No she was an evil kind that need s to be taught a lesson but these incidents were proof that the child was a powerful witch their is no way the Ministry of Magic didn't detected her magic.

The letter from Hogwarts will be here any day now and Mastigia can't do anything about it. All she can do is to make sure that the girl understands that it is dangerous for her to attract attention. She needs to make sure the Ministry doesn't take much notice of her. But know Delphini that seemed almost impossible.

Delphini's room

The Attic of New Heaven Orphanage

Delphini fast asleep in her bed, lost in her dreams she could hear a woman whispering a lullaby in her ear and telling her she loved her and that Delphi needed to be brave and strong. These words were both soothing and painful to her because the voice was her mother's and she knew she will never be able to hear it again.

Delphi could hear the chippering of Sparrows outside the round stained glass window through which the Ray's of sunlight shown in multiple colours.

Delphini woke up with a small tear trickling down her cheek. She had a very sad dream it was about her mother she didn't knew who she was only that she was in a lot of pain and Delphi wanted to help her but something told Delphi that she was no longer in this world.

Delphi only wished she could find out who her parents were. She had a very peculiar appearance she had sapphire blue beautiful eyes and wavy silver and blue hair with pale snow like skin, This weird hair colour was part of many secrets of Delphini's origin. Her hair had been like this ever since she was a baby. One would have thought this was due to some rare disease but Delphi knew better as this was not the only thing out of the ordinary about her.

She stared blankly at the roof of the attic which had small cobwebs and spiders along with small holes from were the ceiling was leak. As she stared she wondered about her abnormalities and wished someone would give an explanation for them.

Ever since she was a four years old she was able to move little objects without touching them, repair broken things, open looked doors and windows just by ordering them. Delphini was six years old when she had started lighting candles with the tip of her finger and was soon able to make it snow in her room, she could even control wind and make herself levitate a few inches above the ground.

She was eight when she started to read minds well not as clearly as in the cartoons and movies she saw but she was able to tell when someone was lying or hiding a secret, she could also hear some fraction of others feelings like fear, anger, worry and small words that they were trying to hold back.

She was even able to control small animals and make them do things without teaching them but she didn't do that unless it was an emergency. She didn't like taking their free will it seemed sinful to her. Delphi was sure she could even control other humans but she never tried to because she had learned in the church that it was evil.

Delphi often wondered about her powers how they came to her was she a part of some secret science experiment like in the X-men and other super hero comics or was she something else a witch or something like that. She wondered about her parents a lot especially her mother who she missed dearly like right now.

It was strange that she had never know her mother yet she was sure her mother had endured a lot for Delphi's sake because she truly loved her. Delphi wished she knew more about her but all she new was her mother's first name "Dahlia" that was engraved on the locked she had left with Delphi.

Delphi held the locked in her hand her fingers creasing the word "Dahlia" engraved under the emerald Dahlia flower on the golden locket. She turned it around to see the words "Love you forever and always" and smiled to her self. She opened the locket and a soft tune played that belonged to her mother's lullaby.

Delphi was examining the clock inside the locket when she noticed the time and snapped out of her childhood memories. She needed to get ready before the other children's woke up to help the nuns in the kitchen.

She got out of her old broken bed and picked up the hair brush from her bedside cupboard which also had a small lamp and an alarm clock on it. She fixed her hair while looking in the cracked mirror beside the window.

She took a look at the attic which had a pile of old useless things heaped in on wide side of the room and in the other corner was Delphini's broken wooden bed that was barely able to stand and at it's foot was a trunk that had all of Delphi's belongings.

She opened it and got dressed into her hand made sky blue frock that had small embroidered flowers at the hem of her skirt. She had made the dress herself from some of the spare clothes donated to the Orphanage. She looked again in the mirror and thought to herself how weird she must have looked to the other children's an otherworldly creature or a freak as some used to call her.

Delphi didn't have time to think about them it's not like she cared what they called her she opened walked down the small steps of flight and opened the attic door and went all the way through the quiet halls of the Orphanage down to the kitchen to help the nuns.
