The warship cut through the waves like a blade, the rhythmic crash of water against the hull mirroring the storm raging within Luffy. He stood at the bow, arms crossed, eyes fixed on the horizon.
Unbeknownst to anyone aboard, Luffy was using his Universal GPS, a gift from his system, to track Edward Weevil.
The ability allowed him to pinpoint his target with eerie precision, but revealing it was out of the question.
Instead, he used misdirection and calculated reasoning to manipulate the ship's course.
"The last reported sighting was near Sector 9-1-7," Luffy had told the Marine navigator earlier. "If we follow the drift patterns and Weevil's usual attack routes, we'll find him."
The officers aboard hadn't questioned him. After all, his instincts were legendary.
Kuina, standing a few steps behind him, watched in silence. This wasn't the Luffy she had known—the one who teased, laughed, and carried an almost arrogant confidence in every battle.
This was something darker. His playful nature had been buried beneath an icy, smoldering resolve.
She finally spoke, her voice soft yet firm. "Luffy… I know you. This anger… it isn't like you."
Luffy exhaled, his fists unclenching slightly. "You think I'm letting revenge consume me?"
Kuina hesitated before nodding. "I've seen it before. People lose themselves to vengeance, to hatred. I don't want that to happen to you."
Luffy closed his eyes for a moment. "I'm not that weak, Kuina. I won't let my emotions rule me."
His voice was steady, unwavering. "I just feel… sad."
Kuina frowned. "Sad?"
Luffy turned to her, his gaze piercing. "Zephyr-sensei dedicated half his life to the Marines. He lost his wife and even his son. And what did he get in return?"
His jaw tightened. "His students slaughtered. His arm was taken. Do you think I can just stand by and let that happen?"
Kuina remained silent. She had no answer.
"I'm not doing this for revenge," Luffy continued, his voice firm. "I'm doing this for him. If I let Weevil go unpunished, then what's stopping Zephyr from falling into hatred and revenge himself? He doesn't deserve that."
His gaze darkened. "I want him to live the rest of his life in peace… like a real grandpa should."
Kuina stared at him, then sighed. "You really are something else."
Luffy smirked faintly, the closest thing to his old self she had seen since they left Marineford. "Of course I am."
Luffy took a quick glance at his status, waiting for a long time to gain experience and increase his level that was static or growing very slowly for the last 3-4 years.

A day and a half passed before the island came into view.
The sky loomed dark and heavy over the landmass, an omen of the battle to come. Smoke curled lazily from the treetops—signs of recent destruction. Weevil was here.
As soon as the ship slowed near the shore, Luffy turned to the Marines. "Stay here."
The officers hesitated. "Sir, with all due respect—"
"This isn't a discussion," Luffy interrupted. His tone left no room for argument. "You wouldn't last ten seconds against Weevil. I'm not risking your lives."
The Marines exchanged glances but obeyed.
Kuina adjusted the grip on her sword. "Just you and me, then?"
Luffy stepped onto the sand, his gaze locked on the jungle ahead. "Just us."
And with that, they disappeared into the island, walking toward the battle that awaited.
----
The island was eerily quiet, save for the distant rustling of leaves.
Luffy and Kuina tread carefully through the dense jungle, their sharp senses on high alert. They didn't have to search for long.
Emerging from the foliage, they spotted him.
Edward Weevil, a hulking mountain of a man, lumbered through a clearing. His massive frame was wrapped in tattered clothing, and his blank, beady eyes carried a dull, animalistic look.
But Kuina knew better.
Beneath that vacant stare was raw, monstrous strength—strength that had annihilated an entire Marine division.
Standing beside him was his mother, Buckingham Stussy, her shrill, high-pitched laughter grating against the humid air. She was tiny compared to her 'son,' but the sharp gleam in her eyes revealed her cunning nature.
Kuina exhaled, activating her Observation Haki. The moment she did, her expression tightened.
He's strong.
She glanced at Luffy. "Let me take him."
"No." Luffy's response was immediate.
Kuina raised an eyebrow. "Worried about me?"
Luffy scoffed, smirking. "Nah. I just don't want you stealing all the fun."
Kuina chuckled. "There it is."
Their conversation was cut short by Buckingham Stussy's cackle. "Well, well! What do we have here? Two little brats playing heroes?"
She sneered, her painted lips curling in amusement. "Do you have any idea who you're messing with?"
Luffy yawned. "Some washed-up hag and her oversized pet?"
Her eyes bulged in rage. "HOW DARE YOU?!"
Weevil, though slow, reacted to his mother's anger like a trained beast. His lips twisted in fury as he raised his massive weapon—a bisento nearly as large as him.
"MAMA, I'LL SMASH 'EM!" He bellowed.
"Go, my son! Crush them!"
With an earth-shaking roar, Weevil charged, his bisento cleaving through the air like a guillotine. The sheer force split the ground apart, sending debris flying.
Luffy didn't move.
At the last second, he sidestepped effortlessly, the weapon missing him by mere inches. The impact of the strike sent a shockwave rippling through the clearing, uprooting trees.
Kuina had already used Soru to retreat, watching from the sidelines.
"Guess I'll leave this one to you," She murmured, arms crossed.
Luffy cracked his knuckles. "Yeah. This won't take long."
Weevil, confused at missing his target, swung again—this time aiming to cleave Luffy in two.
Luffy didn't dodge.
He raised his fist, coating it in pitch-black Haki, and met Weevil's bisento head-on.
BOOM!
The moment their attacks clashed, the ground beneath them shattered, forming a crater. Weevil's arms trembled as his own attack was stopped in its tracks.
His vacant eyes flickered with confusion. "H-HUH?"
Luffy smirked. "That's all you got?"
Without warning, he countered. His fist, now crackling with electricity, crashed into Weevil's gut.
ZAP!
Lightning erupted from the impact, shocking the massive man violently. Weevil's body spasmed, smoke rising from his skin as he staggered backward, his bisento slipping from his grasp.
"MAMA!" He howled in pain.
Buckingham Stussy's eyes widened in horror. "Weevil! Get up! Kill him!"
Weevil recovered with a snarl and lunged again, swinging wildly. But Luffy was not in the mood to play.
With speed that defied belief, Luffy weaved through Weevil's attacks, dodging effortlessly. His movements were precise, and graceful—like a predator toying with its prey.
Then, he struck.
A brutal punch to the ribs—bones cracked.
A devastating elbow to the jaw—teeth shattered.
A merciless knee to the stomach—Weevil coughed up blood.
Every attack was laced with immense Haki, every strike designed to break him down.
