Several months later, Maeve finally took complete control of the Water Law in the lake area of Creekwood Small World and hurriedly woke from her slumber.
This was the fastest she had ever taken over the Law, her heart uneasy about her baby who had just hatched not long ago.
She surmised that Baby Ying's first sleep must have also been about nine years or so, possibly shorter than hers, but not by much. Upon awakening, there should be at least two to three years of vigorous energy ahead.
Anxious that she might wake before her and, having tired of playing within the lake's bounds, grow curious about the outside world and wander ashore—even with Nicole's care, Maeve's concern remained endless.
Yet, the moment she opened her eyes, she saw her precious child lying obediently on the little water bed, breathing softly and slowly.
Still asleep? Good, good!
Maeve sighed in relief and went to check on her.
