Chapter 69 - Interlines 3- The prisoner

Mia's POV:

In my room, I lazily stare at a metal barbell while thinking about my current situation. Despite wearing a huge amount of bandages around my arm, I can lift the barbell without any problem. The wounds from the previous battle have already completely healed. Although that fact would be something to celebrate, I can't help but look sadly toward the door. I lift the metal barbell while staring into space. Where the door once stood, I can now only see a space that leads to an endless sea of lights resembling the night sky. I sigh heavily as I set the barbell aside and lie down on the bed.

"That Ena... What the hell is she planning?"

"Are you bored of exercising yet?"

Before I could respond, a strange shriek echoes through the room. I unconsciously place my hand on my stomach as I shapeshift. In the form of a little boy with a watch in his hand, I stand before the strange flower.

"Anyone would get bored of doing the same thing for who knows how many days in a row."

"Wow, I'm really sorry about that."

A heavy sigh leaves my mouth as I stare at the flower in front of me.

"You don't need to lie. You got me into this in the first place."

"I'm so sorry for overestimating your combat capabilities. I really thought you'd win against them like you've done in the past."

An icy gaze pierced the flower as it seemed to laugh elegantly inside my head.

"I told you, you don't need to lie so blatantly. It was obvious you knew I couldn't win against them right now."

"You really underestimate the trust I have in you."

"...Just...how many times have we had this same conversation already? I'm sick of the same banal answers."

"It's not my fault, dear. You just keep saying the same weird things. It was just a stroke of bad luck that you ended up locked in your room because your reality anchor was destroyed."

"You keep spouting the same nonsense… I really don't feel like repeating this conversation."

"So, are we going to skip the part where you blame me for your reality anchor being found?"

Without responding to her obvious provocations, I lie down in bed to try and get some sleep, but before I can, an adorable growl echoes through the room. I quickly shapeshift into a plain-looking woman with brown hair.

"Oh! I haven't seen that form in over 400 years. It really makes you think of your humble beginnings."

"…That's why I almost never use it…"

"You really were so adorable back then! I can barely recognize your current self from that shy little lady."

"….

"I see you really don't want to talk at all. And I came here to relieve your boredom! You truly are a very ungrateful mortal. Since I'm clearly not welcome here, I guess I'll go somewhere else where I'm needed."

The flower quickly withers and remains on the ground. I stare at the strange flower with disdain as a pain assails my insides. Despite putting up a strong front, the hunger pangs grow stronger and more frequent. Every time I shapeshift, the pain is either mitigated or completely eliminated depending on how often I've transformed into that form, but lately it can't even mitigate the hunger completely. This situation is as annoying as it is painful.

"Just… what the hell are you planning to do, Angel of Destruction Ena?"
