After a long moment of complete silence, Rex slowly opened his eyes. His gaze met Cleo's. She was staring at him without blinking, her golden eyes filled with something intense... like she wanted to memorize his face forever after all the time they had spent apart.
It was as if she feared forgetting even the smallest detail of him. Rex raised an eyebrow and asked gently, "What is it?"
Cleo didn't answer with words. Instead, she reached out and traced her finger lightly across Rex's chest, right over one of the wounds he had gotten back on the Blood Clan's planet.
Although the lady in white had healed his organic body, that particular wound remained. The part of him that belonged to the Kaelzars, his mechanical side, was still damaged.
The skin had not grown back there, leaving the machinery exposed, from where Soft golden light glowed from within the crack, giving it a haunting, ethereal beauty.
