She had half a day in City Z, and the moment her boots hit the pavement, Lilith didn't stop moving.
Wrapped in a thick sweater that barely kept out the bite of the cold, she spent the entire day running around checking places, making calls, confirming details. The sky stayed a dull grey, the air foggy and sharp, but she didn't pause to rest. Her hands were cold, her cheeks red from the wind, and her head still ached faintly from the flight, but none of that mattered.
Every step she took was for one reason only.
A quiet smile played on her lips whenever she imagined his face, how he might react, what he would say.
And though she didn't bring Sir Sparkleton this time knowing full well he'd report everything, she could still feel his imaginary voice in her ear.
