Chapter 238 - 238. to the magic capital

Jason Liu's eye twitched slightly. How did she get the idea that I think they're doing a great job?

But now, looking at the girl in front of him with those big, hopeful eyes, Jason paused. He had been away from the company for more than 20 days, yet everything was still running smoothly. That wasn't something to ignore.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to reward the employees a little—give them some motivation to keep working hard and stay loyal to the company.

So, he nodded and said, "Go call Xiaohan. I've decided to give all employees, except those in the purchasing department, 1.5 times their regular salary this month."

"Hahaha, that's amazing! Thank you, Mr. Liu!" The girl's face lit up with joy. Even though it wasn't double like the purchasing department, getting 1.5 times her usual pay was still great. With her monthly pay being around 20,000 yuan, this meant an extra 10,000.

That 10,000 yuan was exactly what she needed to buy the new set of cosmetics she had been eyeing.

Tasty! she thought, bouncing off happily to deliver the good news.

Jiang Chuchu ran straight to the finance department to tell what Boss Liu had just announced.

"Our President Liu is really generous—he's actually giving us a salary bonus!" Lin Xiaohan, holding a stack of documents, smiled teasingly.

Jason Liu looked at her and suddenly felt a bit guilty. Trying to keep a straight face, he said calmly, "Manager Lin, have your finance department prepare the salary report. Staff in the purchasing department will get double pay, and the rest of the departments will get 1.5 times."

"Alright," she replied, "We'll make sure the finances are handled properly."

Lin Xiaohan looked elegant and tall in her black office skirt—more beautiful than usual, in fact.

Jason Liu didn't dare look at her for too long. He was heading to the Capital during the holiday, and he was also planning to meet up with Qiqi. Thinking about that made his guilt even stronger.

"By the way," Lin Xiaohan continued, "did you see the message in our class group?"

Jason blinked. "What message?" He hadn't checked the group chat at all.

"Everyone agreed to have a class reunion in Zheng City on the last day of the National Day holiday—the 7th."

Lin Xiaohan wasn't surprised that Jason hadn't noticed. He rarely paid attention to group messages, and in the last two years, he had barely appeared in the chat.

He was what people called a "lurker"—a ghost member who never talks.

Jiang Chuchu, who overheard the conversation, chimed in, "A class reunion, huh? Aren't those usually boring? It's only been a little over a year since we graduated. People already want a reunion?"

She clearly wasn't too interested. These gatherings often turned out to be nothing more than people showing off or pretending to care.

On September 30, Jason Liu boarded a flight to City. After two hours, he stepped out of the airport, dragging a small suitcase behind him.

He had already called ahead, so the Hilton Hotel car was waiting for him outside. It picked him up and took him straight to the hotel.

He had booked a deluxe single room at the Hilton Hotel in Magic City—the same hotel where the auction would be held. The room cost 2,680 yuan per night, which was the most expensive hotel he had ever stayed in.

He had tried to book the presidential suite just out of curiosity, but all those rooms were already taken.

He'd wanted to see what made the presidential suite so different from a regular room, but it would have to wait for another time.

It took over thirty minutes to reach the hotel from the airport.

Since his flight arrived in the evening, it was almost 10 p.m. by the time he checked in.

After taking a shower, Jason wrapped himself in a towel and sat in the living room of his hotel room. It was fancier than the living room in his own villa. For a moment, he wondered if 2,680 yuan a night was really worth it.

He messaged Qiqi on WeChat, telling her that he had arrived in City and was staying at the Hilton.

Honestly, he hadn't been able to resist the temptation. He had finally decided to meet the streamer girl who he had silently supported for two years.

But he kept telling himself this was just a casual meet-up between a fan and a streamer. Just a friendly connection in the real world.

He wasn't planning anything more.

Definitely not anything… deep.

Well—maybe not the kind of deep you're thinking of. He just wanted to be better friends with Qiqi.

You could even call it a "blue flame confidante"—someone emotionally close, but nothing more.

Besides, it's normal for a girl to have a boyfriend, right?

Then again, if Lin Xiaohan ever found out he was going to meet up with another young lady behind her back, she might break his legs herself.

Qiqi had just returned home from school vacation that day. She had taken a bath and was now curled up in bed wearing fluffy pajamas, scrolling through her phone.

When she got Jason's message, she immediately sent him a video call request.

Jason answered. The moment he saw her in those adorable pajamas, all his earlier hesitation vanished.

She really had become more beautiful over the years.

No wonder she was the top dancer and the prettiest streamer he had followed silently for two years.

Qiqi noticed him staring and smiled slightly. Her voice was soft and playful as she asked, "Brother Jason, what do you think of my new pajamas?"

Jason didn't hesitate. "Mmm, very cute. You're so beautiful… even if you're not wearing anything!"

Qiqi's eyes widened. What did he just say?

She had thought he was the quiet, serious type. But here he was, flirting with her on video like some kind of bold pervert.

Still, she'd heard worse.

Though she wasn't impressed by such direct teasing, she put on a fake shy expression and said playfully, "Brother Jason, you're so bad! Talking about being naked and flirting with a teenage girl!"

Jason froze.

Did I just say something inappropriate?

He quickly replayed his words in his head. Yeah… maybe that was a little too much. It sounded like more than just a compliment—it was borderline harassment.

"I-I'm sorry!" Jason stammered. "I didn't mean it that way. I just meant… you look really nice. I wasn't trying to be a creep, I swear. Please believe me!"

He didn't want to leave the impression of being a perverted scumbag. Not with her.
