"Aid you when in danger three times??"
As Mo Yu's words fell, Tie Jian Zun Zhe's brows furrowed slightly. His rigid face displayed a trace of contemplation.
In the Dou Qi Continent, the eight ancient clans were bound by certain rules and could not appear publicly at will. As a result, Dou Zun was considered among the most powerful individuals on the continent.
For most people, inviting a Dou Zun to act on their behalf required an astronomical cost, and even then, success was not guaranteed.
Now, a mere youth in his twenties, Mo Yu, had boldly proposed that a Dou Zun help him three times. This left Tie Jian Zun Zhe momentarily stunned.
This boy truly has an appetite.
"Hehe, sir, since I dare to make such a request, I have confidence in repairing this heavy sword. Exchanging a fully restored treasured sword for helping me three times from you—surely it's a fair deal?
Moreover, I guarantee that these three instances will not involve you facing an opponent far stronger than yourself. What do you say?" Mo Yu said confidently.
Hearing this, Tie Jian Zun Zhe's stiff expression remained unchanged. He ran his large hand over the crack on the heavy sword before shaking his head slightly.
Seeing this, Mo Yu froze, his heart sinking slightly. Just as he thought the elder would reject the proposal, Tie Jian Zun Zhe suddenly raised two fingers and said slowly,
"Twice. I will assist you twice, and I will do my best. However, whether your requests can be fulfilled will be left to fate."
"Deal!"
Hearing this, Mo Yu was stunned for a moment. Then, as he processed the words, he quickly nodded decisively.
In truth, Mo Yu's bottom line had been for Tie Jian Zun Zhe to assist him once. Securing two such instances was already a significant gain.
After all, this was a Dou Zun, a master comparable to the leader of the Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion or the elder patriarch of the Golden Warhorse Clan. If not for Tie Jian Zun Zhe being a solitary individual with no ties, it was unlikely he would have agreed at all.
"Very well. Then the heavy sword is yours to handle. I'll be staying at the Tianmei Inn in the center of Wan Bing City for the time being. Once it's repaired, come find me directly.
I'll leave this Bloodfallen Demon Crystal with you as collateral. As for the two promised aids, rest assured that if you repair the heavy sword, I, Tie Jian, will not go back on my word."
With that, Tie Jian Zun Zhe caressed the damaged heavy sword with a hint of reluctance, gave Mo Yu a deep look, and handed him both the Bloodfallen Demon Crystal and the heavy sword before turning to leave.
Watching Tie Jian Zun Zhe's decisive departure, Mo Yu was momentarily stunned, then shook his head with a wry smile.
This elder indeed has an eccentric personality, entrusting these items to me without fear of me running off with them.
Of course, such thoughts were fleeting. Mo Yu would never commit such a foolish act.
Tie Jian Zun Zhe, for his part, seemed unconcerned about Mo Yu absconding with the items. After all, inviting the full wrath of a Dou Zun for a damaged sword and a Bloodfallen Demon Crystal was a move only a fool would make.
Looking at the Bloodfallen Demon Crystal and the damaged heavy sword in his hands, a faint smile emerged on Mo Yu's lips. With the crystal secured, the next stage of the Shenwei Black Thunder Spear's repair could proceed.
As for the damaged heavy sword, it needed to be repaired as quickly as possible.
Having the original story's memories, Mo Yu knew that Tie Jian Zun Zhe was a man of his word who repaid kindness tenfold. Gaining his favor was well worth the effort.
"Junior brother, are you sure you can repair this heavy sword?" Lan Yingying and Feng Mu asked worriedly from the side.
Fixing the sword clearly wasn't an easy task—otherwise, even a Dou Zun wouldn't have struggled with it. Failure could not only render their efforts futile but might also anger the rigid Dou Zun.
Hearing this, Mo Yu smiled faintly and replied, "Rest assured, I can do it."
He then stored the Bloodfallen Demon Crystal and the damaged heavy sword, surveyed their surroundings, and said, "I still need some materials for the repair and the upcoming Refining Convention in three days. Let's see if we can find them on this third floor."
With that, Mo Yu walked deeper into the third floor.
Seeing this, Lan Yingying and Feng Mu exchanged skeptical glances, smiled wryly, and quickly followed.
The top floor, paved entirely with warm jade, was sparsely populated. Only a few dozen people were present, yet Mo Yu understood that each of these individuals was either a formidable expert or a master weapon refiner whose presence alone could cause a stir.
After meeting Tie Jian Zun Zhe, Mo Yu was no longer surprised. Before long, the three arrived at a larger jade platform.
Scattered across the platform were various materials, herbs, scrolls, and even pills. Judging by their appearance, none of these items were ordinary.
Around the jade platform, a crowd had gathered, clearly intrigued by the items on display.
"Hehe, if there's anything you need, feel free to let me know. I might just have it," the black-robed elder behind the counter said with a smile as he saw new customers approaching.
Mo Yu glanced at the seventh-grade badge on the elder's chest—intermediate seventh-grade rank. Evidently, this elder was an intermediate seventh-grade weapon refiner, though not affiliated with the Weapon Alliance.
Hearing the elder's offer, Mo Yu pondered briefly before nodding and saying, "I need two materials: Ten-Thousand-Year Azure Spirit Wood and Snow Bone Rock."
"Ten-Thousand-Year Azure Spirit Wood and Snow Bone Rock," the elder murmured, stroking his beard in thought. After a moment, he nodded. "Rare materials, likely for forging high-grade weapons.
Fortunately, you're in luck. I happen to have a piece of Ten-Thousand-Year Azure Spirit Wood and a chunk of Snow Bone Rock today."
"Oh?" Mo Yu's eyes lit up. He hadn't expected his casual inquiry to yield results so quickly.
With these two key materials, Mo Yu was confident he could restore the damaged heavy sword to perfection. This, in turn, would allow him to cash in on Tie Jian Zun Zhe's favor sooner.
Even if his identity was exposed, having the protection of Tie Jian Zun Zhe and Elder Bing would greatly enhance his safety.
"Here you go, sir—your requested Snow Bone Rock and Ten-Thousand-Year Azure Spirit Wood. Both are rather pricey, so be prepared," the black-robed elder said, retrieving two jade boxes from the platform.
One box held a snow-white, bone-like rock, while the other contained a piece of emerald-green, crystalline wood exuding a rich vitality.
Mo Yu examined the items intently before nodding slowly. Judging by the glimmering auras around them, these were indeed genuine.
"Rest assured, sir. I may not be from the Weapon Alliance, but I never deal in counterfeits," the elder said calmly, glancing at Mo Yu and his companions. "To acquire these materials, I'll need a high seventh-grade weapon in exchange."
Mo Yu frowned. A high seventh-grade weapon? This old man was certainly asking for a lot.
"Sir, while Snow Bone Rock and Ten-Thousand-Year Azure Spirit Wood are rare, even if used to refine a weapon, the result would only be high seventh-grade at best. Demanding such a price for just these two materials seems excessive," Feng Mu interjected with a slight frown.
His words were reasonable. High seventh-grade weapons, crafted by top-tier seventh-grade weapon refiners, were exceedingly rare even within the Weapon Alliance. The elder's asking price was indeed exorbitant.
"Well said," the elder admitted with a hint of embarrassment. "In that case, let's settle on an intermediate seventh-grade weapon."
This adjustment seemed fairer, and Mo Yu finally nodded slightly. However, he didn't agree immediately, instead letting his gaze wander over the jade platform.
Although the elder's initial price was steep, the quality of his goods was undeniable.
Mo Yu's gaze slowly shifted, and just as he was about to withdraw his sight, his eyes suddenly froze, locking onto a corner of the jade platform.
There lay a pale yellow piece of copper, its surface marred with patches of green rust. Upon closer inspection, one could faintly discern some peculiar patterns etched onto it.
Unlike the other items on the jade platform that radiated an extraordinary aura, this inconspicuous piece of copper resembled discarded junk amidst treasures, utterly unremarkable.
Mo Yu's gaze lingered on the copper piece for a moment, a sudden intuition stirring within him. Despite his careful observation, he couldn't detect anything unusual about it. To his perception, it was as ordinary as could be.
Yet, it was precisely this extreme ordinariness that struck Mo Yu as strange, triggering a sense of familiarity that led him to speculate further.
Without showing undue interest, Mo Yu casually scanned the jade platform again, feigning interest in several other items. After a while, he nonchalantly reached out and gently picked up the copper piece.
The moment the copper piece touched his hand, a faint chill spread through it. This sensation, however, was merely due to the prolonged exposure to the cold atmosphere and not anything inherently unusual about the piece.
"This item, sir, is priced higher than both the Snow Bone Rock and the Ten Thousand Year Azure Spirit Wood because it's an artifact from ancient times," the black-robed elder remarked in a calm tone, noticing Mo Yu's actions.
His words instantly drew astonished and dubious stares toward the copper piece in Mo Yu's hand.
Everyone understood that anything associated with the term "ancient" was rarely ordinary. Yet, they found it hard to believe that this seemingly mundane piece of copper could be tied to something so extraordinary.
Even Feng Mu and Lan Yingying moved closer, curiously examining the copper piece, but they failed to notice anything remarkable about it.
Mo Yu, however, slightly raised his brows, a flash of realization crossing his mind as he seemed to confirm the artifact's origin.
"What do you wish to exchange for this copper piece, sir?" Mo Yu asked, then quickly added with a smirk, "Let me remind you not to overprice it. I'm only somewhat interested in it. If you try to fleece me, our teacher might call you a wastrel."
"And who is your teacher?" The black-robed elder's brow furrowed slightly as he asked.
"Hehe, Master Bing Li," Lan Yingying replied with a radiant smile.
At her words, all eyes turned toward the three of them.
Bing Li—a high seventh-grade weapon refiner—was rumored to be on the verge of breaking through to eighth-grade. His reputation was substantial both within the Weapon Alliance and across Central Plains.
Hearing this, the black-robed elder's expression stiffened. Though he himself was a mid seventh-grade weapon refiner, the gap between him and a prospective eight-grade master like Bing Li was significant.
"In that case, you may take the Ten Thousand Year Azure Spirit Wood, Snow Bone Rock, and this copper piece for two mid seventh-grade weapons," the elder replied after some deliberation.
Feng Mu and Lan Yingying were about to voice their objections, but Mo Yu waved them off.
Two mid seventh-grade weapons weren't worth causing unnecessary trouble over. Mo Yu nodded in agreement.
With a flick of his wrist, Mo Yu produced a pristine white scroll, placing it lightly on the jade platform. "Sir, I don't have two mid seventh-grade weapons, but I do have a blueprint for the low seventh-grade weapon Su Xin Mirror. This should be a fair trade for the Snow Bone Rock, Ten Thousand Year Azure Spirit Wood, and the copper piece."
The Su Xin Mirror was an exceptional auxiliary weapon, particularly valuable to weapon refiner. Before starting their work, many weapon refiners sought this kind of tool to ensure a tranquil mind during refining. By simply placing it overhead, it could ward off distractions and calm the mind.
Hearing this, the elder's eyes lit up. He eagerly grabbed the white scroll, examining it with care.
Blueprints were the greatest treasures for weapon refiners and rarely shared, unless used for transactions.
In fact, a low seventh-grade blueprint often exceeded the value of two mid seventh-grade weapons. Even Feng Mu and Lan Yingying were wide-eyed at Mo Yu's generosity, realizing that not even their teacher would be so extravagant.
Mo Yu clearly harbored significant secrets.
"Excellent! This is a fine item. A pleasure to trade with you, sir," the black-robed elder declared, quickly stowing the scroll in his storage ring.
Mo Yu smiled faintly, storing the Snow Bone Rock and Ten Thousand Year Azure Spirit Wood into his beast ring. Then, as his hand reached out for the copper piece, a sudden interruption occurred.
A black, serpent-shaped sword appeared out of nowhere, striking the copper piece with a crisp clang.
At the same time, a faint voice echoed from the side.
"Hehe, my friend, I have taken a liking to this copper piece as well. Would you mind parting with it?"
