Chapter 241 - Chapter 241: Stalemate

Boom!

Gamabunta landed from above, touching down beside Minato Namikaze on the edge of the battlefield.

"Minato, kid, what's your plan now?" Gamabunta asked, keeping his eyes fixed on Roshi in the distance. Clearly, he was wary of Roshi's current state, and his tone held a rare hint of seriousness.

Minato considered the question briefly, then said, "The Four-Tails' ability is Lava Release. It's hard for me to get close, so..."

"So..." Gamabunta glanced at Minato, suddenly having a bad feeling about this—like some massive trouble was heading his way.

Sure enough, Minato's next words confirmed his suspicion.

"So, I'll need the Boss Frog to attract his attention while I look for an opening."

"No way! Absolutely not!" Gamabunta shook his head like a rattle, refusing flatly.

"One hundred pounds," Minato said, raising one finger with a smile.

"What?" Gamabunta looked confused.

Minato explained, "One hundred pounds of premium tobacco from Bird Country."

Gulp. Gamabunta swallowed hard, then hesitantly began, "This job seems a bit..."

"Two hundred pounds," Minato offered, raising a second finger.

"Wait—" But before Gamabunta could continue, Minato raised a third finger. "Three hundred pounds. That's my final offer."

"Fine, three hundred it is!" Gamabunta suddenly turned resolute, his tone now heroic. "It's not about the tobacco. We've signed a contract, so naturally, we should help each other. Since you need assistance, I won't stand by and watch. Watch closely, Minato!"

With that, Gamabunta drew his short blade and sprang into the air, launching himself toward Roshi, who now had two tails revealed.

Seeing Gamabunta's enthusiasm, Minato chuckled and shook his head, then used the Body Flicker Technique to follow him quietly.

At the Edge of the Battlefield

"Take this! Gamabunta's Blade Slash!" Gamabunta shouted, swinging his short blade down from the sky toward Roshi.

Uh... "Short" was a relative term. Compared to Gamabunta's massive size, yes, it was short. But to people like Minato or Roshi, it was a huge sword over three meters long.

As the massive blade bore down on him, Roshi's now partially transformed eyes flashed with a hint of rage. Instead of dodging, he raised both hands to catch the blade bare-handed.

Boom!

A massive force spread from the blade. The ground beneath Roshi's feet exploded, and his legs sank into the earth. Despite the protection of his Tailed Beast cloak, Roshi roared in pain, then swung his tails fiercely at Gamabunta.

Hearing the approaching tails, Gamabunta withdrew his sword and leapt backward just in time.

Slam! Slam!

Roshi's tails hit the ground, leaving deep cracks, making the entire ground tremble.

Seeing his opponent dodge, Roshi didn't pause. He raised his hands, aiming at the airborne Gamabunta. Recognizing the move, Minato knew what was coming next.

Just as he expected, Roshi's Tailed Beast chakra extended from his hands, forming two massive "Tailed Beast claws" that reached out to grab Gamabunta.

Suspended mid-air with nowhere to brace himself, Gamabunta was in a precarious situation.

Experienced in battle, Gamabunta reacted instantly, weaving hand signs to perform a Water Release: Iron Cannonball technique. Two water spheres shot from his mouth, striking the Tailed Beast claws and pushing them off course just enough.

Skimming past the claws, Gamabunta landed safely on the ground, then jumped to avoid the claw's return strike.

Roshi, frustrated, prepared to continue his assault. But just then, he sensed a sudden, extreme danger. Almost instinctively, he used his tails to shield his back.

Shing!

A kunai enveloped in Wind Release chakra cut into one of Roshi's tails, narrowly failing to penetrate his Tailed Beast cloak.

Feeling the faint chill on his back, Roshi was deeply shaken. Had he reacted any slower, Minato's kunai would have torn through his Tailed Beast cloak, likely causing a fatal wound.

It was Minato, indeed, who launched this precise strike, seizing the perfect moment. Utilizing the sharpness of Wind Release, he aimed to end Roshi in one blow.

But Roshi's—and the Four-Tails'—innate sense of danger thwarted his attack at the last possible second, leaving him just short of his goal.

Regretfully, Minato activated his Flying Thunder God Technique and disappeared.

Slam!

The tails struck the ground where he'd been. Roshi's frustration grew as Minato vanished, and he immediately began spewing molten lava spheres at Gamabunta, venting his rage.

Meanwhile, he fortified his defenses with a renewed Lava Release chakra mode, covering himself with a fresh layer of molten armor. Unlike the simple humanoid form from earlier, this armor also extended to his tails, making them look like flowing rivers of lava—intimidating indeed.

Compared to the Boil Release of the Five-Tails, the Lava Release of the Four-Tails was clearly harder to deal with. For agile fighters like Minato, facing the Five-Tails' Jinchuriki, Han, was manageable—keeping up the pace forced Han to retreat. But against Roshi, it was different.

With his armor alone, Roshi was near untouchable.

"Thankfully, I've got Gamabunta with me. Otherwise, this would be a real challenge!" Minato muttered, watching Gamabunta prepare his next Water Release technique to counter Roshi's attack.
