"Ah! Someone's been killed!"
It was unclear who shouted this, but the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop erupted into chaos. Some timid individuals had already fled the shop, while bolder ones pointed at the dead young scion. Even more audaciously, some looked at the remaining two young scions with eager eyes.
"Are you still not leaving?" Mu Chen coldly regarded the two remaining young scions.
Uh!
The two young scions merely exchanged glances with Mu Chen, paralyzed by fear and collapsing to the ground. In the end, they crawled away in a panic.
Mu Chen turned to Little Fairy Doctor, who was also looking at him in shock.
"Your name is Little Fairy Doctor?" Mu Chen asked.
"Mm." Little Fairy Doctor nodded.
"Hello, my name is Mu Chen. I've long heard that there is a Little Fairy Doctor in Qingshan Town who saves lives. Today, seeing you in person, you truly have a remarkable appearance. I would like to take you as my disciple; would you be willing?" Mu Chen asked seriously.
Take a disciple?
Not only was Little Fairy Doctor shocked, but even the many onlookers present were astonished as they stared at her.
If Mu Chen hadn't just displayed such a powerful ability, these onlookers would have surely mocked him. However, the display he just put on had greatly intimidated them. With just a flick of his finger, without even touching anyone, he had managed to kill his opponent. This could only mean that one should not judge by appearances; despite his young age, Mu Chen's abilities were terrifyingly formidable.
"I don't want to." Little Fairy Doctor replied.
"Why don't you want to?" Mu Chen asked.
"There's no reason," Little Fairy Doctor said, a fleeting look of sadness flashing in her eyes. It seemed there was an unspoken reason behind her refusal. She looked at Mu Chen and said, "You are blocking my path; could you please step aside?"
Mu Chen stepped aside, allowing Little Fairy Doctor to enter the main door of the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop.
As soon as Little Fairy Doctor entered, a voice rang out.
"Excuse me, young brother, may I ask your esteemed name?" A middle-aged man approached.
The middle-aged man wore a long robe and had an ordinary face, the kind that would not attract attention in a crowd. However, his half-closed eyes always gave off a sinister feeling.
Although Mu Chen was only 19 years old, he had already been around many different types of people. While he might not have met countless individuals, he could at least discern a person's character based on their demeanor and behavior.
Mu Chen scrutinized the middle-aged man, and his intuition told him that this person belonged to the hypocritical type.
"Manager Yao!"
Little Fairy Doctor looked at the middle-aged man and respectfully greeted him. Her lowered gaze briefly revealed a glimmer of hostility.
"Manager Yao?"
Mu Chen's heart sank; the person before him was actually Manager Yao, who would later plot against Little Fairy Doctor.
"Hello, I am the owner of the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop. I still do not know the name of this young brother," Manager Yao said with a smile, looking kindly at Mu Chen.
"Mu Chen," Mu Chen replied coldly.
"Young brother, where do you come from?" Manager Yao asked.
"Why do you want to know?" Mu Chen stared directly at Manager Yao.
"..." Manager Yao.
Manager Yao felt a chill in his heart. He was clearly a person with extensive life experience, yet for some reason, he felt as if his soul was being pierced by Mu Chen's gaze. It was as if Mu Chen had seen through all his malicious intentions.
Manager Yao steadied his mind. After all, Mu Chen was just a young man barely over twenty; how could he possibly see through his thoughts? With this in mind, Manager Yao continued.
"Young brother, please don't overthink it. I, Manager Yao, enjoy meeting heroes and talents who come to Qingshan Town. I see that you are not an ordinary person and may not yet realize the trouble you have caused. Therefore, I want to help you," Manager Yao said.
"Trouble? What trouble have I caused?" Mu Chen asked.
"Do you know who you have killed?" Manager Yao inquired.
"Oh, who was it?" Mu Chen asked.
"The only son of the second-in-command of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group," Manager Yao replied.
"Oh. So what?" Mu Chen retorted dismissively.
"Young brother, you may not be aware. There are three major mercenary groups in Qingshan Town, with the Wolf Head Mercenary Group being the foremost. You have killed the only son of the second-in-command; do you think he will let you go? For your safety, I suggest you stay in my Ten Thousand Medicines Shop for a while. Although I am just a shopkeeper, I hold a certain status in Qingshan Town. As long as you do not leave the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop, I can guarantee your safety," Manager Yao said, gazing at Mu Chen with a fleeting glimmer of greed in his eyes. Clearly, his intentions in protecting Mu Chen were not pure.
Mu Chen looked at Little Fairy Doctor, noticing that she was standing behind Manager Yao, subtly shaking her head at him. Little Fairy Doctor was signaling Mu Chen not to agree to Manager Yao's proposal.
"Alright. Then I will go choose a room," Mu Chen said, ignoring Little Fairy Doctor's kind reminder, and stepped into the inner hall of the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop, actually beginning to select his room.
As Mu Chen left the outer hall, he did not notice the sinister smile of triumph that crept onto Manager Yao's lips.
Mu Chen exuded his soul power, secretly activating his Rinnegan, taking in every detail of the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop. He discovered a courtyard filled with many medicinal herbs.
"Young master, this courtyard is not suitable. It is where Little Fairy Doctor resides."
The servant guiding Mu Chen in selecting a room introduced the owner of the courtyard. Although he was unaware of Mu Chen's identity, he could tell from Mu Chen's luxurious attire that his background must be extraordinary. In the servant's eyes, addressing Mu Chen as 'young master' would pose no risk.
"Little Fairy Doctor?"
Mu Chen smiled inwardly, having guessed that this would be Little Fairy Doctor's residence. Just as he was about to step into the courtyard, he was stopped by the servant's outstretched hand.
"What's wrong?" Mu Chen asked.
"Young master, even the shopkeeper cannot casually enter Little Fairy Doctor's courtyard. I hope you won't make things difficult for us. There are many other good rooms in the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop; let me show you," the servant said, bowing and speaking very politely to Mu Chen.
"Is that room occupied?" Mu Chen pointed to the room closest to Little Fairy Doctor's courtyard.
"That was originally a storage room for medicinal materials; it is not suitable for living," the servant replied.
"Mm, I want that one," Mu Chen said.
"Ah?" The servant's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Mu Chen.
"Go and inform them to clear out the things inside," Mu Chen instructed.
"It's currently the off-season, and the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop has three storage rooms. That one is empty, but young master, it really isn't suitable for living," the servant continued to persuade.
"I want that room," Mu Chen smiled, completely ignoring the servant's advice. He walked to the door of the storage room, opened it, and found the interior dim, cool, and dry, indeed very suitable for storing medicinal materials.
Mu Chen did not ask the servant to bring bedding or other necessities; he directly moved in.
Of course, Mu Chen did not plan to sleep on the floor; instead, he took out a mat from the Storage Soul Guidance Device. It was a mat that emitted a white glow and had strange runes on it.
Speaking of this mat, it was a treasure Mu Chen had won in a lottery, named Enlightenment Futon. Anyone who sits on it can draw closer to the Great Dao, accelerating a cultivator's understanding of it.
The battle in the Douluo God Realm left a deep impression on Mu Chen. His God Power, or soul power, far exceeded that of the Five Supreme Gods, yet he almost fell victim
to the God of Destruction, who wielded the laws. If Mu Chen could comprehend a certain law of heaven and earth, his journey in the Douluo God Realm would surely be much smoother.
