"Percy and Company in the True North" will basically be told from the diary/logbook of everyone's favorite sarcastic   son of the sea, Percy Jackson.

Percy Jackson's Diary

Entry No. 6: The Anomalies of a Frozen Forest

Date: Fifth Day If My Memory Serves Me Right

So here I am, in the middle of what looks and feels like a snowball waiting for someone to shake it right. Seriously, you'd think I'd be used to weird things happening to me by now, but somehow this latest adventure still manages to take me by surprise. It's been a wild ride and I'm starting to wonder if my life is anything more than an endless journey through the realms of chaos and mythology.

So... Let's start at the beginning... Once again

My entire group, a collection of the Greek and Roman demigods, along with some Amazons and hunters from Artemis, found ourselves unceremoniously in a vast unknown expanse of towering pines and snow-capped mountains. Honestly, it was as if Mother Nature had decided to stage an episode that mixed Canadian tourism and survival in the frozen forests.

The last night? Let's just say it was a dazzling horror story. We huddled together around some campfires that, by some miracle of Olympic magic, decided to stay lit despite the arctic winds (I'm not kidding) that seemed to throw icy daggers at us. So there we stood, staring at the flames without blinking, convinced that the real monsters lurked in the shadows. And then, as if the universe thought we could handle a zombie apocalypse on top of everything, a pack of ice zombies swooped down on us. Yes, ice zombies. Because, why not? At least they had the decency not to be on fire this time, didn't they?... However, our campfires were extinguished because of how much the temperature dropped.

Surprisingly, or perhaps not surprisingly at the time, we survived the night.

Later that same day or night, I should say, as if it were a twisted cosmic joke, we were rewarded with the clearest night sky I've ever seen. I mean, seriously, the kind of heaven that makes you feel like you're under a disco ball created by fate itself. The stars shone so brightly that they almost drowned out the haunting memories of our zombie adventure. I never thought I'd see living constellations so clearly, but I quickly learned that what we were witnessing weren't the usual faces of our mythology.

Some of the huntresses, the older ones, began to point out strange star patterns. Yes, for a moment, one might think that we were back at Camp Half-Blood, sitting around a campfire while Annabeth forced some encyclopedic knowledge of celestial navigation into us. "Ooh, look, Pisces," one of the younger Huntresses murmured, sounding strangely impressed. "Wait, that's not Pisces... is it?" I said, and this is what I got from spending too much time with brainiacs like my girlfriend. Peculiar glances were exchanged all over the place as we tried to decipher what we were looking at.

In the midst of volley after barrage of references to the stars, the few older Huntresses began whispering to each other about other realms on the planet. Their whispered tones revealed half-formulated theories about divine pantheons that we had not yet known. And here's the thing: I could relate to them a bit, considering my accidental encounters with the Egyptian pantheon. You know, a normal Thursday for a demigod. And one of the hunters, a fierce-looking, fierce-looking girl, mentioned that she had heard stories about the gods of Alaska, which got me thinking: Would these winter myths dress up as lumberjacks or something?

And this is where things get even weirder. The Nordics were also discussed. That made me think of Magnus, Annabeth's cousin. I almost laughed out loud. Last I heard, the poor guy had already had to deal with an overabundance of frost giants... or were they fire giants?

However, we could now be going through a frozen version of his life. And there's a small part of me that imagines Magnus sitting somewhere, desperately flipping through the pages of a guide on how to deal with unexpected Norse drama.

Anyway, as we trudged through the snowy forest, I cataloged all this chaotic information in my head and, by some miracle, in this journal. It turns out that, amidst all the flutters and whispers about gods and pantheons, I found myself strangely calm and slightly excited. I mean, what's life without some icy challenges and unexplored realms? I might as well get my boots wet (if I had boots) and see if the no-Canadian gods can stand up to the Greeks when it comes to ice skating.

But here's an idea: what's next? Will there be a rebellious band of polar bear demigods? Perhaps a moose deity who insists on presenting himself dramatically at every turn? Whatever lies ahead, I'll keep my sword ready and my sarcastic remarks ready for battle.

In the end, maybe surviving the night with ice zombies, possibly venturing into realms ruled by divine pantheons I hadn't even considered, was just another mission on my endless to-do list. Because, as always, in the world of gods, monsters and everything in between, they doesn't stop throwing curveballs at me.

Until next time, Percy Jackson (Chronicler of the Incredibly Random)
