The next day, Henry went to pick up Lydia so they could visit the hospital.
Charlotte was determined to prove her innocence.
Henry, too, was resolved to have his woman's innocence proven.
He said to his mother in a low voice, "Mom, when you see the medical report at the hospital later, you should apologize to Charlotte."
He paused before continuing with more gravitas. "It's an injustice to have wronged someone like this."
Lydia looked at Henry in disbelief. "Whether I've wronged her aside, you and I both know it's a fact that she and Victor used to be together before. You heard her admitting to it. And you've forgiven her already for keeping this from you?"
Henry's lips thinned but he said nothing in response.
Lydia raised her voice. "The son I know would never have sunk so low for some woman!"
Still, Henry kept his silence.
Eventually, he interrupted her tirade with a sigh. "That's enough, Mom. I need you to do this for me, okay?"
