Cain's communication with Regice was not as simple as it seemed.
Cain concealed many details. Although the final result wasn't much different, several important aspects were overlooked.
For instance, why did Regice suddenly head in that direction, ignoring Noland's warnings and even showing aggression toward Articuno? This led Noland to misunderstand the situation.
The true cause had much to do with Cain and Slowking.
During the previous battle, Slowking had fully activated the Blood of Mew, and Regice, from a great distance, sensed the trace of Mew, prompting it to rush toward that location.
However, midway, Mew's signal disappeared, which enraged Regice, causing it to attack Articuno, who was obstructing it.
Thus, the primary reason behind this incident was the integration of the Blood of Mew into Slowking.
After Cain projected an image of Mew and the ruins where it resided into Regice's mind, the Pokémon calmed down and began a dialogue with Cain.
Although the conversation with Regice was somewhat complicated due to the Pokémon's rigid nature, the outcome was positive.
Cain explained to Regice that he might know where to find Mew but asked it to stay calm and avoid impulsive actions, as stronger trainers might soon appear to capture it.
Regice, being a simple-minded Pokémon, did not doubt Cain. After Cain showed it an image of Mew and the ruins, Regice decided to follow his instructions without question.
Regice had been sent to Mew's ruins to protect them, a mission imposed upon it since its creation. These Pokémon's loyalty to Mew was absolute.
Cain assured Regice that he would help it find Mew in a few years, which was not an issue for Regice, as that span of time was merely a brief dream for it. It accepted the proposal without hesitation.
In Regice's eyes, Cain was a good person, in contrast to the man who had attacked it alongside the Articuno it shared an ice type with.
Cain also asked Regice why it was seeking Mew and what had caused it to leave Mythical Island.
Regice explained that its mission was to find Mew and that it needed Mew's help to resolve a long-standing issue.
As for why it left Mythical Island, Regice said it was to pursue a Pokémon that had invaded the ruins, but after leaving the island, it lost its way back.
It couldn't remember how to return home.
So it had no choice but to wander outside, searching for traces of Mew.
Regarding the decrease in its level and power, even Regice didn't know the exact reason.
Cain had promised to help Regice find Mew in a few years, based on his knowledge of Team Rocket's plans. Eventually, after the team's investigation into Mew's DNA, Mewtwo would make its appearance.
After Mewtwo rebelled against Team Rocket, Mew would reappear to stop it. Therefore, Cain wasn't lying to Regice.
After establishing smooth communication with Regice and calming it down, Cain ceased the conversation as the others arrived at the scene.
Before Regice left, Cain asked it to inform him where it planned to go so that he could find it in the future.
Without suspecting anything, Regice revealed the location of an island in the sea where it planned to hide.
To Cain's surprise, he already knew that island. When aboard the S.S. Anne, he had left psychic coordinates on various islands along the way, and that island was one of them, where he had also left markers with his Slowpoke.
Regice turned out to be surprisingly easy to deal with, which made Cain consider a few things.
Of course, capturing Regice was impossible. These Pokémon's loyalty to Mew was unwavering. Unless Mew released them, they would not break their oath.
Like the three Regis under the command of the Battle Pyramid leader, Cain knew these Pokémon only obeyed the one who assumed the Pharaoh's position, never questioning their authority.
As for the Pokémon that Regice had pursued out of Mythical Island, Cain suspected it might be the father of his two Swablu, the powerful Pokémon that had arrived from elsewhere.
There were too many mysteries Cain wished to unravel, but unfortunately, he didn't yet have enough power.
Although Slowking had reached the quasi-elite level, it still wasn't enough.
Cain had Flygon descend gently to the ground.
...
Meanwhile, on the League's side, the meeting of the high command did not end with Regice's retreat.
Although a major issue had been resolved, a "small" one emerged during the meeting.
Juan, seated at the table, had been dealing with a mix of headache and satisfaction lately.
The satisfaction came from the fact that the Hoenn region finally had two prominent young trainers: Steven Stone, from the Stone family, and Cain, who had emerged as a talented trainer despite his humble origins.
Initially, Juan thought Steven was a step above Cain due to the vast opportunities his family provided. Meanwhile, Cain stood out more for his talent as a breeder.
However, recent events proved they had underestimated Cain's potential.
What began as a strategy to strengthen ties with the Breeders' Guild resulted in Cain demonstrating that his talent as a trainer was equally impressive.
After Cain's conversation with Regice, Drake immediately reported his opinion on Cain to the League's high command.
His recommendation was clear: "Cultivate him well."
The advice of an Elite Four member was enough to catch the League's attention, but after today's events, they discovered that Cain was also a psychic.
Knowing that a powerful trainer like Cain possessed telepathic abilities meant a great deal, and everyone knew it.
Taking advantage of the ongoing meeting, Juan tried to strengthen support for Cain, as so far, they had only given him recognition without any tangible benefits. This sparked the current headache.
The League members were on the verge of fighting amongst themselves.
