He still hadn't replied.
He sat in front of the computer, his phone charging at his side. He glanced at it every few keystrokes, fearing he might miss a message from her, but the phone's screen remained dark all through the night. Meanwhile, on his computer, he wrote and deleted, deleted and wrote, until dawn approached and there was still nothing.
He had never been like this before...
He remembered what she had said, "When I didn't have a boyfriend, I was never afraid of the cold alone, and I won't be afraid of it now or in the future! The world doesn't stop for anyone!"
He wanted to say that when he didn't have a girlfriend, he was always just fine on his own. But unlike her, he feared that from now on, he may not be okay. She might be completely fine without him in her world, but what about him without her? He couldn't...
Sitting on the carpet, he watched as the gray of dawn slowly brightened outside the window.
The alarm on the phone by his hand rang.
