Chapter 398 - The Flower That Flew Away From Grasp

(Third Person POV)

"Have you not seen our sisters?" Aemon asked Daella who was sitting on a bench, "Daella, they came to see you as well."

Daella was looking ahead of them, "I...." She said, "I am not sure if I wish to see them."

Aemon looked at her, "I see..." He said, "I understand."

She reached for his hand, "I wish to stay with you." She said, "Until everything passes, I want you by my side."

Aemon nodded, "Of course." He said, "I won't leave your side."

She smiled slightly, "Thank you."

Aemon then looked down, "I..." He said, "I want to tell the girls the truth. But I cannot bring myself to do so."

Daella hugged his arm, "It is up to you only." She said, "Nobody else has done so because they want you to do it."

"I know." Aemon said, "But.....she made her choice."

"I understand." She said softly, "She chose him."

"She did." Aemon said as he closed his eyes, "She did just that. Everything that he touches withers away....But I won't let him come between us. We.....we are together, Daella....."

"I know." She said softly, "He is a dark storm that looms over everyone and everything. And.....I cannot bring myself to resent my sisters for loving him. And the thought of looking at Maegelle, happy and expecting a child....I.....I feel guilty for being envious of it...when...."

"Don't say a thing." Aemon kissed her head, "It's.....just....it's okay...."

Daella sniffed, "Am I terrible person for that?" She asked, "The reason I don't want to see her is because she is bearing a child while I lost mine?"

"No...." Aemon said softly, "You are not. Don't say that."

As he said this a Kingsguard walked up to him, "My Prince." He said, "There is a matter that has arisen. Prince Baelon requested your presence. apparently, an argument has started between his son and your daughter, and he would like for you to aid him."

Aemon sighed, "It must be Daemon and Rhaenys bickering." He said, "I told her to ignore him but she just won't....."

"Go on." Daella said, "I'll stay here. I'll return to my chambers in a few minutes. I want to wait for a bit...."

Aemon stood up, "Very well." He said, "I shall meet you there, my love."

He walked away and as he did, the Kingsguard followed.

Daella sat there for a couple of seconds, letting out an exhale as she looked at the ground, placing her hand on her laps.

"Maegelle...." She said softly after sitting there for a few seconds of silence

"I didn't know you felt that way." A voice said, which startled her

She jumped up, seeing that Drakken was leaning against a pillar, a few feet away.

"Y-You....!" She exclaimed, "I will-"

"There is no need to scream for help, little flower." He said with a chuckle as he straightened up and walked towards her, "I mean no harm."

She frowned as she sat there, "I...." She said, "What do you want?"

Drakken stood in front of her, "I wanted to see you." He said, "To see how you're doing."

"W-what does it matter to you?" She asked

"You were going to be mine." Drakken said as he looked up, "But alas, you were taken away from me. Well, not necessarily. You were a pretty little flower, meant to float down to my hand.....but the breeze flew right out of reach....and you landed in the palm of someone else. Perhaps I should have taken you, perhaps I should have reached out and clutched you....but.....sometimes, things are not meant to be."

"You already have wives..." Daella said softly, "Why would you want more?"

"By now, you should already know...." Drakken looked at her, "That I am insatiable. There is no end to what I desire. You are right, Daella....I am the Dark Storm that looms over the Realm. Nay, this world. I am a natural disaster, a Calamity. That is what I am, and there is nothing that can change that."

"You are a monster." Daella said softly, "A terrible god that destroys everything he touches. I pity the mother who birthed you, if you had one. She probably does not know what a monster she brought to the world."

Drakken stared at her for a few seconds, his eye twitching.

He then smirked slightly, "You are right." He said, "She had no idea what came out of her. She was ignorant of what this monster went through. But tell me, my sweet flower, would it matter if she did?"

"I don't care." She said as she looked down, "I wish for you to leave my sight."

"I curse your husband with stagnancy." Drakken suddenly said

She looked up, "What?"

"Tell me." He said, "Have you tried again? To have another child? To produce an heir for him? Surely, after overcoming the deep depression of losing your child, you would try again."

"That is no concern of you." She said with a frown

"You have, haven't you?" He said as he turned to the side, "And let me guess, he has not been successful. Well, don't you wonder why that is the case?"

She looked at him with a surprised face, "You....."

"Me..." Drakken said with a smirk, "I did that to him."

"Why?" She asked as a tear formed in her eye

"He hasn't suffered enough." Drakken told her, "For what he did."

"He's suffered more than enough." She said softly, "What you did to him-"

"It's nothing compared to what I want for him." Drakken said with a menacing glare, "Tell me, if you were killed, would you not want Aemon to feel the same?"

"He had nothing to do-" She started

"He had everything to do with it!" He cut her off, an angry tone in his voice, "And do you think I will ever forgive him? Your brother? Your Father?! I curse all of you! And let me tell you one thing....."

Drakken walked over to her and leaned down to her, causing her to lean back towards the bench.

"W-What?" Daella said as Drakken leaned towards her ear, "Do not touch me...."

"When the world is burned by dragonfire, you will all beg for your lives...." Drakken whispered to her ear, "You will be on your knees and you will beg for me and mine House to help you. Because when Dragonlords go to war, everything burns and only the Children of Drakken can come out on top."

"What are you saying?" Daella said softly, "What will you do?"

Drakken leaned back and gently held her by the chin, "You would have been happy." He said with a soft tone, "Should you have been with me. But you were not meant to be mine, it seems."

"Shame."
