Why was Chen Feng excluded?
Researchers of the Divine Tao were indeed considered somewhat taboo, but this was similar to scientists on Earth researching nuclear reactions or viruses. Even if their research topics had a "dangerous" flavor, they weren't necessarily ostracized. As for adhering to theories that didn't quite align with existing ones... the academic world still showed some tolerance towards that. As long as Chen Feng could present a logical reasoning process, no one would be overly critical of him.
Previously, Wang Qi would probably have asked more questions. But now, he wasn't in the mood, and he just grunted twice to show he was listening.
