Olivia wiped the blood from her nose as she tried to stand up but Liliana shook her head and let her sit down for a longer time. Olivia's chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. The grass still glowed faintly around her, the warmth of the magic ebbing slowly from her fingertips. Her voice was shaky when she finally spoke.
"How… how is this possible?" she asked, turning her wide eyes toward Liliana. "You said a witch can only control one element. But I have used fire, water, and now… this earth. How?"
Liliana hesitated, clearly torn. She brushed Olivia's hair back from her damp forehead and then slowly stood and watched the grass. It was not one or two strands but the whole stone was covered with grass now.
