Cherreads

Chapter 27 - 27.) Tangled up in Blue

Authors note: okay, let me start with something I'd thought was in the past but apparently not. PSA, if you spend time out of your day to shit on other peoples work your a miserable piece of shit. I find it funny that all of you keyboard warriors all have one thing in common, none of you have any fics posted. So please, by all means show the world how a 'professional' author does it if my fellow writers and myself don't live up to your expectations.

Damn. I've honestly never seen this many adult people be so enraged over a FANFICTION that they cuss and curse my name. You people are disgusting.

Now that we've done some house cleaning, I'm probably going to start using the intro that one of the characters speaks to set the chapters up. Unless they say the same things. But hey, another chapter is here guys.

I've learned that taking is slow and steady is the way to do this and not burn out. Do hope you all continue to read and give me your opinions on it.

Enjoy the chapter.

Rebekah's voice

My brothers and I are the first vampires in history, the Originals. 300 years ago we helped build New Orleans, now we've returned to find a city at war.

The vampire Marcel leads an army of vampires agaisnt a desperate coven of witches. My. Brother Klaus is playing agaisnt both sides…. Hungry for power and hoping to protect the werewolf carrying his child.

But Marcel has an advantage, he holds our brother Elijah captive with the aid of a secret weapon… a powerful young witch named Davina.

Now, in order to get back the brother I love, I have no choice but to side with the one I cannot trust, all while a ghost of my dead brother Henrik runs around planning who knows what.

Hayley

Being stuck in this house carrying a miracle baby is starting to get to me. I'm bored. Something I assume is a natural reaction to a werewolf being Cooped up. Our nature is to run, to jump, and hunt.

But while pregnant I won't shift on the full moon. At least that is a blessing in of itself. I may have accepted that I turn into a wolf every full moon, the pain of such a thing remains. A curse is a curse after all.

I find myself looking through the house only to come upon Elijah's journal. I imagine his accented voice reading the words to me.

August, 1359:

I have noticed a difference in my siblings. Our bond strains beneath the pressure of our lives as vampires. Each day removes them further from the humanity we once possessed.

My sweet sister Rebekah has grown quite indifferent to brutality.

After reading that part I remember the scene where Rebekah saved me by ripping a man's heart out like it was nothing before I continue reading.

However the true problem remains my brother niklaus.

Again I'm hit with scenes from klaus. Him pouring the gasoline on the pile of bodies in the front yard.

He continues to hide his loneliness with cruelty. Still I cling to hope that I, our eldest brother, can lead them down the correct path. A path charged with the power of a family united. For if I fail… our families legacy will end in darkness.

I'm broken from my reading by Rebekah speaking to klaus.

"I can't believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire."

"Was i supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot?" Klaus asked before continuing. "Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless pregnant girl carrying my child."

"Aw, I am so moved by your newfound sense of fatherly duty towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her oven." Rebekah snarks back.

I decided to intervene. "The werewolf would like to know what the plan is."

Again klaus cracks a joke. "Well that depends on what plan you mean, love. My plan for world domination or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel cruel world."

Said blond vampiress smiles before throwing a pencil at klaus who catches it. I decided to speak before they came to blows. "The plan to rescue Elijah. Ya know the good brother. The one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back."

"In the front. If we're being specific," klaus said. I cut him off.

"You two said that you would get him back. So is there a plan or what?"

The siblings exchange glances before klaus leads the way into the study speaking, "okay, well firstly Marcel is not my mortal enemy. He's my friend. Albeit one who is unaware that I'm trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the French quarter, but a friend nonetheless.

"And secondly, I daggered Elijah to gain Marcels trust. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch I certainly would've weighed my options a bit differently. And thirdly dear sister," klaus gestures to Rebekah who starts speaking.

"And thirdly the plan as you have demanded is for Klaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back."

I look between them confused. "That… that's not the whole plan is it?" Rebekah laughs.

"Please, Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling but there is none more diabolical."

I look to said miserable excuse. "Well that's only the plan a love. There's always a plan B."

"And what's plan B?" I ask a bit nervous at the gleam in the hybrids eyes.

"War."

Zach

Walking through the city I see Sabine giving a tour. Knowing how devious the little body jumping witch is I'll stay away from her.

While I usually bring at least one pack member with me, the current ban on werewolves in the Quarter would lead to too much attention on me too soon. I'll wait for Elijah to be upright again before coming to him discreetly. No need to rope Klaus in yet.

He would have an army with moonlight rings by the end of the week if he found out right now. While I like Klaus, what really led to his change was seeing Hope for the first time. In season 1 of the originals he's pretty unpredictable. Something I don't like and won't deal with.

So with the moonlight rings plan on hold, I decide to just enjoy the city. Today is the day Derek and Kyle are going to the bayou to see if there are any non crescent wolfs lurking around.

I walk into Rousseau's and get a drink from one of the biggest reasons for Klaus' redemption. Camille O'Connell. Someone who as a human has a lineage in this city as well.

That's another thing that always fascinated me about this city and the factions within it. They are all at least centuries deep into this city with their roots dug in.

I've only touched the surface and I can feel everything that's happened here. The bloodshed. The peace. All of it flows through the French Quarter like a heartbeat.

Marcels speech to Josh about the blood of him and his friends running through this city never made sense until I arrived here.

After a few drinks I get a text from Klaus.

Come over. Moves being made tonight.

I chuckle. Looks like I'm gonna have to fight the arrogance out of him when dealing with me. No problem. Just need to wait for Elijah to wake up so I can have a buffer.

I text Katie about what I'm doing and blur out of the bar toward Klaus.

_

I arrive to hear Klaus talking to the newbie vampire Josh. "I ordered you to drain him of blood. What's taking so long?"

"I'm sorry. I'm not like medieval tourture guy." I walk in as Klaus blurs to josh and takes the pitch fork from his hands while stabbing the poor son of a bitch they've got chained up.

"What'd he do to you?" I ask walking in.

"It's not about what he did. It's about what he's going to do when we're done here. Which is, whatever I want him to." He said stabbing the guy again. "Just like you for example." He said moving to Josh and compelling him.

"Drive this through his torso." He told the newbie vampire before handing him the pitch fork again.

Josh moved in a blur and stabbed the guy. "That is crazy. I didn't want to do it but I did it anyway. "

"It's called Mind compulsion. Vampires can compel humans. Original invite my siblings and I can compel vampires, and no one can compare originals you following? Good. That is how a brand new night walker like yourself is here doing my bidding with none the wiser."

"But I never had my guts drained out of me." Josh answered.

"Yes that's because I got to you before you'd had a drop of herbal vervain. See it prevents compulsion. Marcel's had his whole crew taking it since I returned to town. And that is why our friend here needs to be drained dry of it so I can compel him to follow my every command. And with my brother in captivity, we can't afford to be gentle can we?" He asks rhetorically before stabbing the chained vampire again.

"While I enjoy tourture as much as the next guy, why'd you call me here Klaus?" I ask as we walk out.

"There's a party tonight in my families old residence. Come by, see the show." The hybrid says before taking blood from a compelled servant.

"Will do." I say filling my cup with bourbon and shooting it down. "I'll see you tonight, gotta grab a tux."

_

With a tux ready to go I make my way into the party quietly enough. If quietly means snapping a vampires neck so fast he would never know who came in and left. I may not be able to compel their memory away, but I'm fast enough at full speed to be a blur to most vampires. Especially the newbies Marcel's army is made up of. This guy was just a grunt guard.

Straightening my tux I begin my descent through the former Mikaelson mansion. Quite a cool thing to be experiencing in real life. I'd seen these halls many times in many states during the 5 seasons. But walking through here while feeling so many vampires around is an experience all it's own.

I finally arrive in the main hall where the party is taking place. Moving quickly to a vantage point out of the way while also blending into the human population in attendance.

Now all I have to do is wait for the show.

I didn't have to wait long at all. Within minutes of arriving I see Klaus and Rebekah. I focus my ears on their conversation, catching the tail end of it as they turn to see Marcel dancing with Camille.

"….he'll be suitably distracted," Rebekah says.

——

Klaus

"I'm beginning to think your sisters a bit of a bitch," the blonde bar maid says while we dance.

I laugh. A true laugh. "It's as though she invented the word."

What happens next is all according to plan. I see Diego come in an whisper into Marcel's ear. I can see the anger in him at what his right hand Thierry has done.

Camille sees this and I know she's about to be spooked off. As much as I hate doing this to her, some things must be done.

——

Zach

I catch the tail end of Klaus saving Marcel. A good plan in truth to get Elijah back. What the hybrid doesn't account for is Davina's signature 'I don't care if you're an original' attitude.

'It's all getting interesting now,' I think to myself. Even more so when I get a text from Kyle.

Found some wolves. Showed em a bit of what I can do. To say they're interested would be an understatement.

I smile. Time to build my own army. Not huge. But enough. I blur back into the shadows heading to the spot we designated for sussing out potential recruits.

"Let the games begin," I say still a blur in the city of supernaturals.
