The holiday seasons were rarely enjoyable to Lariette from the year she left Moonville. Even though the Elsher family's Christmas celebrations were nothing short of extravagance, she wasn't happy.
The Elsher family often threw two Christmas parties, one for family and relatives while the other was for friends and business acquaintances. Both were not pleasant to Lariette.
